Minimally invasive measurement of carotid artery and brain temperature in the mouse. [PDF]

open access: yesMagn Reson Med
Abstract Purpose Brain temperature is tightly regulated and reflects a balance between cerebral metabolic heat production and heat transfer between the brain, blood, and external environment. Blood temperature and flow are critical to the regulation of brain temperature. Current methods for measuring in vivo brain and blood temperature are invasive and

Phylogenetic relationships among seven freshwater red algal genera in the Batrachospermaceae (Batrachospermales, Rhodophyta) using complete chloroplast genome data. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Phycol
Abstract Systematics studies within the freshwater red algal order Batrachospermales have used only one to a few genes to infer evolutionary relationships. The phylogenetic trees presented in these studies recovered monophyletic genera with strong support, but the relationships among genera were often not well supported.

Pig slurry organic matter transformation and methanogenesis at ambient storage temperatures

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Quality, Volume 52, Issue 6, Page 1139-1151, November/December 2023., 2023
Abstract Manure management is a significant source of global methane emissions, and there is an increased interest in understanding and predicting emissions. The hydrolysis rate of manure organic matter is critical for understanding and predicting methane emissions.

Development of Greener and Stable Inkjet‐Printable Perovskite Precursor Inks for All‐Printed Annealing‐Free Perovskite Solar Mini‐Modules Manufacturing

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 20, 2023., 2023
Herein, a stable (>2 months in storage) low‐molarity (0.8 m) nontoxic solvent based perovskite precursor ink is demonstrated to provide the fabrication of highly‐efficient and stable all‐printed annealing‐free perovskite photovoltaic devices under ambient atmosphere.

A positive temperature‐dependent effect of elevated CO2 on growth and lipid accumulation in the planktonic copepod, Calanus finmarchicus

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 68, Issue S1, Page S87-S100, June 2023., 2023
Abstract Calanus finmarchicus were reared from eggs to adults at 12°C and 16°C with non‐limiting food in combination with ambient (600 μatm) and high (1100 μatm) pCO2. These conditions are likely to be encountered by the species at the southern margins of its biogeographical range by the end of the century.

Redox Reactions of Phenazine Antibiotics with Ferric (Hydr)oxides and Molecular Oxygen [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Phenazines are small redox-active molecules produced by a variety of bacteria. Beyond merely serving as antibiotics, recent studies suggest that phenazines play important physiological roles, including one in iron acquisition.

Protein dynamics in the reductive activation of a B12-containing enzyme [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
B12-dependent proteins are involved in methyl transfer reactions ranging from the biosynthesis of methionine in humans to the formation of acetyl-CoA in anaerobic bacteria.

Galaxy Evolution and Star Formation Efficiency at 0.2 < z < 0.6 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We present the results of a CO line survey of 30 galaxies at moderate redshift (z \sim 0.2-0.6), with the IRAM 30m telescope, with the goal to follow galaxy evolution and in particular the star formation efficiency (SFE) as defined by the ratio between ...

The phenazine pyocyanin is a terminal signalling factor in the quorum sensing network of Pseudomonas aeruginosa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Certain members of the fluorescent pseudomonads produce and secrete phenazines. These heterocyclic, redox-active compounds are toxic to competing organisms, and the cause of these antibiotic effects has been the focus of intense research efforts.
