Long-Range Scalar Forces in Five-Dimensional General Relativity

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2020
We present new results regarding the long-range scalar field that emerges from the classical Kaluza unification of general relativity and electromagnetism.

European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline and EXPeRT Recommendations for the Diagnosis and Management of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms in Children and Adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

Unified Dark Matter scalar field models with fast transition

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate the general properties of Unified Dark Matter (UDM) scalar field models with Lagrangians with a non-canonical kinetic term, looking specifically for models that can produce a fast transition between an early Einstein-de Sitter CDM-like era

Investigating the timecourse of accessing conversational implicatures during incremental sentence interpretation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Many contextual inferences in utterance interpretation are explained as following from the nature of conversation and the assumption that participants are rational.

Piecewise-Analytical Approximation Methods for Initial-Value Problems of Nonlinear, Ordinary Differential Equations: Part 2

open access: yesMathematics
A variety of methods that provide approximate piecewise- analytical solutions to initial-value problems governed by scalar, nonlinear, first-order, ordinary differential equations is presented.

Health‐Related Quality of Life and Symptom Severity Among Patients With PIK3CA‐Related Overgrowth Spectrum: A Mixed‐Methods Study to Understand Real‐World Experience With Alpelisib Treatment

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background PIK3CA‐related overgrowth spectrum (PROS) includes several rare overgrowth disorders resulting from somatic gain‐of‐function mutations in PIK3CA. Despite treatment advances, including the recent approval of alpelisib for PROS in the United States, literature detailing the patient experience with PROS is limited.

Scalarization of horizonless reflecting stars: Neutral scalar fields non-minimally coupled to Maxwell fields

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2020
We analyze condensation behaviors of neutral scalar fields outside horizonless reflecting stars in the Einstein-Maxwell-scalar gravity. It was known that minimally coupled neutral scalar fields cannot exist outside horizonless reflecting stars.

The emergence of scalar meanings [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2015
This paper analyzes the emergence of scalar additive meanings. We show that in Basque the same particle ere can obtain both the "simple additive" reading (akin to English too) and the "scalar additive" reading (akin to English even) but we argue that we do not have to distinguish two types of ere.

Viable constraint on scalar field in scalar–tensor theory [PDF]

open access: yesClassical and Quantum Gravity, 2020
Abstract The scalar–tensor theory can be formulated in both Jordan and Einstein frames, which are conformally related together with a redefinition of the scalar field. As the solution to the equation of the scalar field in the Jordan frame does not have the one-to-one correspondence with that in the Einstein frame,

Serological Benefit of SARS‐CoV‐2 Vaccination Relative to Infection in Children With Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) are at risk of severe outcomes from SARS‐CoV‐2 (SCV2). In the post‐pandemic context, where most children have been infected with SCV2, there are limited data on whether vaccination remains beneficial in children with ALL.
