Advanced Micro‐OLED Integration on Thin and Flexible Polymer Neural Probes for Targeted Optogenetic Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper introduces a flexible neural probe with integrated micro‐OLEDs on a flexible substrate for the first time, featuring 8 micro‐OLEDs and recording electrodes for optogenetics. It uses advanced encapsulation and an IAI anode for durability, emitting 470 nm light for ChR2 activation, enabling high‐resolution, minimally invasive stimulation ...

Scale-space characteristics for image segmentation

open access: closedProceedings of IEEE Region 10 International Conference on Electrical and Electronic Technology. TENCON 2001 (Cat. No.01CH37239), 2002
For successful image segmentation, it is vital to discover optimal discriminating features that contrast one region from the other, or contrast salient edges from the background. We propose a new method for image segmentation based on three discriminating features: average gradient magnitude, uniformity of gradient magnitude and uniformity of gradient ...

Fuzzy homogeneity and scale-space approach to color image segmentation

open access: closedPattern Recognition, 2003
Image segmentation is the procedure in which the original image is partitioned into homogeneous regions, and has many applications. In this paper, a fuzzy homogeneity and scale-space approach to color image segmentation is proposed. A color image is transformed into fuzzy domain with maximum fuzzy entropy principle.

Document image segmentation using wavelet scale-space features

open access: closedIEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, 2002
An efficient and computationally fast method for segmenting text and graphics part of document images based on textural cues is presented. We assume that the graphics part have different textural properties than the nongraphics (text) part. The segmentation method uses the notion of multiscale wavelet analysis and statistical pattern recognition.

Image segmentation by analysis of scale-space [PDF]

open access: possibleProceedings. XV Brazilian Symposium on Computer Graphics and Image Processing, 2003
We present a technique in image segmentation based on a hierarchical analysis of scale-space. The image hierarchy is a tree of critical lakes and provides a set of nested partitions. We analyze the scale-space from fine to coarse levels according to specific attributes.

The Segmentation of Images via Scale-Space Trees

Procedings of the British Machine Vision Conference 1998, 1998
A useful representation of an image would be an object tree in which nodes represent objects, or parts of objects, and which includes at least one node that, together with its children, represents each object: a grandmothernode. It is shown that scale-trees, obtained from greyscale images, approximate such a tree.

Motion-driven object segmentation in scale-space

1999 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. Proceedings. ICASSP99 (Cat. No.99CH36258), 1999
In this paper we present a method for motion segmentation, in which accurate grouping of pixels undergoing the same motion is targeted. In the presented technique true object edges are first obtained by combining anisotropic diffusion of the original image with edge detection and contour reconstruction in the inherent scale-space.

Efficient scale space auto-context for image segmentation and labeling [PDF]

open access: possible2009 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2009
The conditional random fields (CRF) model, using patch-based classification bound with context information, has been widely adopted for image segmentation/ labeling. In this paper, we propose three components for improving the speed and accuracy, and illustrate them on a developed auto-context algorithm: (1) a new coding scheme for multiclass ...

Segmentation of images of yeast cells by scale-space analysis

16th Brazilian Symposium on Computer Graphics and Image Processing (SIBGRAPI 2003), 2004
We present an hierarchical approach to segment images of yeast cells based on watershed and space-scale analysis. Yeasts belong to an important fungi class and the performance of bioreactors and other chemical processes are greatly influenced by their morphological character.

Segmenting multisensor aerial images in class–scale space

Pattern Recognition, 2001
Abstract We introduce a class–scale space for automated segmentation of aerial images from diverse sensors. We describe the performance of a segmentation algorithm operating in this space. This algorithm is carried out by three processors in succession: multiscale feature extractor, multiclass pattern classifier, and class–scale logic. The multiscale
