Scaling Diffusion Language Models via Adaptation from Autoregressive Models

International Conference on Learning Representations
Diffusion Language Models (DLMs) have emerged as a promising new paradigm for text generative modeling, potentially addressing limitations of autoregressive (AR) models.

Scale Adaptation and Ethnography

Field Methods, 2005
In this article, the author discusses his experience adapting a scale while conducting an ethnography of childbearing motivation in central Honduras. He argues that the goals of scale adaptation and ethnography overlap and that the combination of both activities improves field data collection. The author discusses how this combination improves validity

A scale-adaptive DEM for multi-scale terrain analysis

International Journal of Geographical Information Science, 2013
A scale-adaptive digital elevation model (S-DEM) method is proposed for multi-scale terrain analysis using a single high-resolution digital elevation model (DEM) database. The motivation is to construct a DEM that is self-adaptive to a given scale of an application, rather than letting the application fit into the built-in scale of the DEM.

Adaptive Behavior Scales

2007
Publisher Summary Adaptive behavior scales play an important role in helping practitioners diagnose, plan supports, or determine an individual's level of independence. Research is being conducted to develop specific scales to examine the underlying constructs that these scales are designed to measure. The construct of adaptive behavior is fundamental

Adaptive-Scale Selection

2009
Adaptability is a crucial feature of filtering and differentiating methods. It was demonstrated in the previous chapters that the performance of LPA kernel estimates depends strongly on the selection of the scale parameter. In Fig. 2.6 we saw the Nadaraya-Watson estimates for different h. A small h gives the limit estimate A⋅ h (x) as a stepwise curve
