Easy bootstrap for the 3D Ising model: a hybrid approach of the lightcone bootstrap and error minimization methods

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
As a simple lattice model that exhibits a phase transition, the Ising model plays a fundamental role in statistical and condensed matter physics. The Ising transition is realized by physical systems, such as the liquid-vapor transition.

Ionic Control of Microstructure and Lubrication in Charged, Physically Cross‐Linked Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, charged, physically cross‐linked poly(methacrylamide‐co‐methacrylic acid) hydrogels stabilized by a short‐range attractive, long‐range repulsive potential is investigated. This work uncovers how salt addition alters not only swelling, but also the microstructure and dynamics, near‐surface stiffness and charge, and ultimately, its lubricity. Salts

Conformal bootstrap equations from the embedding space operator product expansion

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We describe how to implement the conformal bootstrap program in the context of the embedding space OPE formalism introduced in previous work. To take maximal advantage of the known properties of the scalar conformal blocks for symmetric-traceless ...

An Attractor for Natural Supersymmetry

open access: yes, 2012
We propose an attractor mechanism which generates the "more minimal" supersymmetric standard model from a broad class of supersymmetry breaking boundary conditions. The hierarchies in the fermion masses and mixings are produced by the same dynamics and a

Observing Shape in Spacetime [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The notion of "reference frame" is a central theoretical construct for interpreting the physical implications of spacetime diffeomorphism invariance in General Relativity.

Self‐Assembled Membranes for High Ion Selectivity and Proton Blocking in Electrochemical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐separated alkyl poly(vinylimidazolium) membranes exhibit exceptional ionic conductivity, counter‐ion selectivity, and proton‐blocking ability by forming stable micro/macrophase‐separated domains. This design overcomes the conductivity–selectivity trade‐off in conventional ion‐exchange membranes (IEMs), offering a new paradigm for high‐performance

Accidents in (0,2) Landau-Ginzburg theories [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We study the role of accidental symmetries in two-dimensional (0,2) superconformal field theories obtained by RG flow from (0,2) Landau-Ginzburg theories.

Geometrically Templated, Ultra‐Lightweight and High Strength Soap Films from Lyotropic Liquid Crystalline Graphene Oxide/Polymer Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellular materials form spontaneously by dip coating the primitive triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) wireframe in an aqueous solution of lyotropic liquid crystalline graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets mixed with polymers. Regulated by surface tension, GO nanosheets align on the polymer soap film as the stress builds up during drying.

Gaussian‐Sigmoid Reinforcement Transistors: Resolving Exploration‐Exploitation Trade‐Off Through Gate Voltage‐Controlled Activation Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The characteristics of a vertical n–p–i–p heterostructure transistor device, which exhibits a voltage‐tunable transition between Gaussian and sigmoid functions, are investigated. The mixed state of the transfer curve enables the utilization of both exploitation and exploration, improving computational performance in reinforcement learning tasks ...
