Fluorescent-tagged hyper-branched polyester for inhibition of CaSO4 scale and the scale inhibition mechanism

Materials Today Communications, 2020
Abstract A fluorescent-tagged and carboxyl-terminated hyper-branched waterborne polyester (HBP-AP) was prepared and characterized. Acted as CaSO4 scale inhibitor, its application conditions such as the dosage, Ca2+ concentration and pH value, were investigated to optimize the scale inhibition efficiency.

Inhibition of Sulphate Scale Nucleation

Offshore Technology Conference, 1990
ABSTRACT The nucleation of (Ba, Sr)S04 scale has been studied on different surfaces representative of those likely to be encountered in oil production. The amount of scale formed and the efficiencies ofthree typical scale inhibitors depended on the surface used.

SCALE INHIBITION FOR INJECTION OF INCOMPATIBLE WATERS

Proceedings of SPE Oilfield and Geothermal Chemistry Symposium, 1982
ABSTRACT The utilization of scale inhibitors is the most common and promising method of combatting the scale problems in oil and gas field operations. The extension of the scale inhibition technique to geothermal operations faces some problems mainly due to the high temperature and high salinity of the brines.

A New Look at the Scale Inhibition Mechanisms and Some Refinement of the Scale Inhibition Theory

CORROSION 2021, 2021
Abstract The data on scale inhibition mechanisms are critically analyzed with the emphasis on the published data disparity and controversy. On the grounds of three independent approaches it is demonstrated that foreign background “nanodust” particles have a dramatic impact on antiscalant efficacy.

Dual Kinetic Hydrate Inhibition and Scale Inhibition by Polyaspartamides

Energy & Fuels, 2011
Polyaspartamides are a recently developed class of kinetic hydrate inhibitors (KHIs) with good biodegradability, made from polysuccinimide (PSI).

Interplays Between Corrosion and Scale Inhibitors—Part I: Scale Inhibition

Materials Performance, 2021
Corrosion and scale inhibitors are often applied simultaneously in oil and gas production and processing facilities. Interference between these two types of inhibitors could have a significant impact on the success of a chemical treatment program. This study showed that the adverse effect of corrosion inhibitors on calcium carbonate (CaCO3) scale ...

Investigation of Calcium Carbonate Scaling Inhibition and Scale Morphology by AFM

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2001
The calcium carbonate scale inhibition by two inhibitors, polyacrylic acid (PAA) and 2-phosphonobutane-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid (PBTCA), has been studied in two heat transfer systems: recirculating cooling water and pool boiling systems. It is found that PBTCA has a better inhibition effect than PAA under identical conditions.

Scale Inhibition using Nano-silica Particles

SPE Middle East Health, Safety, Security, and Environment Conference and Exhibition, 2012
Abstract Scale deposition in producing wellbores is a serious problem in the industry. The problem gets worse, when the scale is caused due to barium and strontium salts. These salts are difficult to clean as they are not easily soluble in any kinds of solution or chelating agents. In case of offshore operation, the scaling phenomenon is

Research Progress of Scale Inhibition Mechanism

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Scale inhibitor is a medicament which has the properties of dispersing insoluble inorganic salt in water, and preventing or obstructing sediment and scaling of insoluble inorganic salt on metal surface. Research on the mechanism of scale inhibition can promote using and developing scale inhibitors.

Scale Inhibition in Hard Water System

2020
The precipitation of an insulating layer of scaling on the walls of the water distribution pipes has serious technical and economic consequences. Various methods were used to prevent the scale formation in water such as the chemical methods in which the germination of the CaCO3 crystals is blocked using the inhibitor.
