Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

MiR-205-5p inhibition by locked nucleic acids impairs metastatic potential of breast cancer cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Mir-205 plays an important role in epithelial biogenesis and in mammary gland development but its role in cancer still remains controversial depending on the specific cellular context and target genes.

Effective therapeutic targeting of CTNNB1‐mutant hepatoblastoma with WNTinib

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
WNTinib, a Wnt/CTNNB1 inhibitor, was tested in hepatoblastoma (HB) experimental models. It delayed tumor growth and improved survival in CTNNB1‐mutant in vivo models. In organoids, WNTinib outperformed cisplatin and showed enhanced efficacy in combination therapy, supporting its potential as a targeted treatment for CTNNB1‐mutated HB.

Evaluación y selección de un inhibidor multiscale para prevenir la formación de incrustaciones inorgánicas en un campo petrolero colombiano

open access: yesRevista Fuentes El Reventón Energético, 2016
Formation damage produced by inorganic scaling is the most frequently and has the major impact on the Colombian oil fields. It causes important economic losses due to flow restrictions, workover operations and production losses.

L-arginine as Corrosion and Scale Inhibitor of Steel in Synthetic Reservoir Water

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2016
Effect of L-arginine as corrosion and calcium carbonate scale inhibitor has been evaluated using scale inhibition efficiency experiments, electrochemical measurements (Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, EIS, potentiodynamic polarization and linear ...

Efficient hepatitis C virus particle formation requires diacylglycerol acyltransferase-1. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is closely tied to the lipid metabolism of liver cells. Here we identify the triglyceride-synthesizing enzyme diacylglycerol acyltransferase-1 (DGAT1) as a key host factor for HCV infection.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

COOKIE-Pro: covalent inhibitor binding kinetics profiling on the proteome scale

open access: yesNature Communications
Covalent inhibitors are an emerging class of therapeutics, but methods to comprehensively profile their binding kinetics and selectivity across the proteome have been limited.

Abridged Petri Nets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A new graphical framework, Abridged Petri Nets (APNs) is introduced for bottom-up modeling of complex stochastic systems. APNs are similar to Stochastic Petri Nets (SPNs) in as much as they both rely on component-based representation of system state ...

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...
