Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

An improved localization method for lesion area in gynecological ultrasound image

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Image and Video Processing, 2020
The false positive and false negative rates of current image localization methods in gynecological lesion area are high because the effectiveness is affected by random noise.

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

HSI-MSER: Hyperspectral Image Registration Algorithm Based on MSER and SIFT

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2021
Image alignment is an essential task in many applications of hyperspectral remote sensing images. Before any processing, the images must be registered.

View subspaces for indexing and retrieval of 3D models

open access: yes, 2011
View-based indexing schemes for 3D object retrieval are gaining popularity since they provide good retrieval results. These schemes are coherent with the theory that humans recognize objects based on their 2D appearances.

Keyframe detection in visual lifelogs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The SenseCam is a wearable camera that passively captures images. Therefore, it requires no conscious effort by a user in taking a photo. A Visual Diary from such a source could prove to be a valuable tool in assisting the elderly, individuals with ...

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Real time architectures for the scale Invariant feature transform algorithm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Feature extraction in digital image processing is a very intensive task for a CPU. In order to achieve real time image throughputs, hardware parallelism must be exploited.
