Parallelizing Scale Invariant Feature Transform on a Distributed Memory Cluster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) is a computer vision algorithm that is widely-used to extract features from images. We explored accelerating an existing implementation of this algorithm with message passing in order to analyze large data sets ...

Time, the final frontier

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This article advocates integrating temporal dynamics into cancer research. Rather than relying on static snapshots, researchers should increasingly consider adopting dynamic methods—such as live imaging, temporal omics, and liquid biopsies—to track how tumors evolve over time.

Learning Robust Feature Descriptor for Image Registration With Genetic Programming

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The robustness and accuracy of feature descriptor are two essential factors in the process of image registration. Existing feature descriptors can extract important image features, but it may be difficult to find enough correct correspondences for ...

Robust Descriptor Algorithm Considering the Changing Gray Value Trends Inside Ground Objects for Heterogeneous Optical Image Matching

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2023
Differences in sensor types, resolutions, and imaging conditions can lead to considerable spectral differences in heterogeneous optical remote sensing images and the similarity of scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) or local self-similarities (LSS ...

Linear Spatial Pyramid Matching Using Non-convex and non-negative Sparse Coding for Image Classification

open access: yes, 2015
Recently sparse coding have been highly successful in image classification mainly due to its capability of incorporating the sparsity of image representation.

Aberrant expression of nuclear prothymosin α contributes to epithelial‐mesenchymal transition in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nuclear prothymosin α inhibits epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in lung cancer by increasing Smad7 acetylation and competing with Smad2 for binding to SNAI1, TWIST1, and ZEB1 promoters. In early‐stage cancer, ProT suppresses TGF‐β‐induced EMT, while its loss in the nucleus in late‐stage cancer leads to enhanced EMT and poor prognosis.

Texture classification using invariant ranklet features [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A novel invariant texture classification method is proposed. Invariance to linear/non-linear monotonic gray-scale transformations is achieved by submitting the image under study to the ranklet transform, an image processing technique relying on the ...

A nucleotide‐independent, pan‐RAS‐targeted DARPin elicits anti‐tumor activity in a multimodal manner

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We report a Designed Ankyrin Repeat Protein that binds and inhibits RAS proteins, which serve as central cell signaling hubs and are essential for the progression of many cancers. Its unique feature is that it does not discriminate between different RAS isoforms or mutations and is capable of binding to RAS in both its active (GTP‐bound) and inactive ...

A Local Feature Descriptor Based on SIFT for 3D Pollen Image Recognition

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Biological particle automatic classification is an important issue in index tasking for people with pollen hypersensitivity. This paper attempts to present a local feature extraction method based on SIFT for automatic 3D pollen image recognition.
