Nonparametric Estimation of Ratio of Scale Parameters
Journal of the American Statistical Association, 1977Abstract Let X 1, …, X m and Y 1, …, Y n be independent random variables from two continuous distributions F (σ1 −1 (x − v)) and F (σ2 −1 (x − η)), respectively, where ν and η are medians and σ1 and σ2 are scale parameters. Explicit forms of estimators of the ratio of scale parameters are obtained based on Ansari-Bradley, modified Ansari-Bradley ...

Testing and Estimating Ratios of Scale Parameters
Journal of the American Statistical Association, 1969Abstract Let X 1, …, Xm and Y 1, …, Yn be independent random samples from populations having continuous d.f.'s Ψ((x-μ)/σ) and Ψ ((y-v)/τ) respectively. The classical F-test of a hypothesis concerning λ = τ/σ is known to be non-robust. This paper examines several robust alternative procedures and compares them on the basis of Pitman a.r.e.

Scale Covariance and Scale-ratio Covariance in Turbulent Front Propagation
2009We address the implications of scale symmetries in out-of-equilibrium systems within the paradigm of turbulent front propagation. Usually, in this kind of issues, the attention is laid on the scale properties of objects, i.e. of their geometry, as for instance in fractal analysis.

An Objectivity-Subjectivity Ratio for Scales of Measurement

A Direct Method for Multidimensional Ratio Scaling
Psychometrika, 1963A generalization of direct ratio scaling methods to multidimensional ratio scaling is described. This method requires an observer to report the proportion of a standard percept that is contained in a given percept and vice versa. The method was developed to meet requirements for experimentation in such areas as color vision, gustation, and olfaction.
