The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved [123I]ioflupane ([123I]-fluoropropyl βCIT), a dopamine transporter (DAT) radioligand, for SPECT to “assist in the evaluation of adult patients with suspected parkinsonian syndromes (PS).”1 This permits physicians to prescribe [123I]ioflupane SPECT scans as part of clinical practice ...

Asymptomatic macrocephaly: to scan or not to scan
Pediatric Radiology, 2021Macrocephaly is a common finding in infants and is often idiopathic or familial. In the absence of clinical signs and symptoms, it can be difficult to determine when concern for underlying pathology is justified. The objectives of this study were to determine the utility of screening head ultrasound (US) in asymptomatic infants with macrocephaly and to ...

Cluster headache: To scan or not to scan
Current Pain and Headache Reports, 2008By definition, cluster headache (CH) is not caused by underlying structural pathology. However, patients with CH or CH-like syndromes and an associated structural lesion have been described. In many cases it is difficult to establish a causal relation between the headache syndrome and the lesion. We reviewed the literature for symptomatic CH or CH-like

CAT scans, PET scans, and genomic scans
Genetic Epidemiology, 1998As we begin the long march toward genetic dissection of complex traits, it becomes necessary to develop optimum study designs and retool ourselves to face the emerging new challenges. Key issues pertaining to the design of genomic scans are reviewed, including: sampling unit, definition and refinement of phenotype, genotyping issues, one-stage vs.

While there are ongoing debates with regard to the level of risk, if any, associated with medical imaging, the benefits from medical imaging exams are well documented. This forum article looks at outcome-based medical studies and guidance from expert panels in an effort to bring the benefits of medical imaging, specifically CT imaging, into focus.

Partial scan with pre-selected scan signals
Proceedings of the 32nd ACM/IEEE conference on Design automation conference - DAC '95, 1995A partial scan approach proposed recently selects scan signals without considering the availability of the ip-ops (FFs). Such an approach can greatly reduce the number of scan signals since maximum freedom is allowed in scan signal selection. To actually scan the selected signals, we, however, must make them FF-driving signals.

The study of the cartilage is relatively easy with modern imaging. If the interpretation of MRI cartilage remains difficult arthro-CT images are easy to obtain. Arthro-CT is much preferable to simple arthrography. These two steps are in fact complementary: the global study of the joint is made with arthrography while the accurate assessment of ...

ACM SIGMOBILE Mobile Computing and Communications Review, 1997
There are inherent difficulties in supporting mobility in ATM networks, due to its connection oriented nature. Once mobile users moves out of certain geographic areas, the ongoing connections for the mobile users have to be rerouted. A suitable connection rerouting schemes must exhibit a number of features including: low handoff latency, efficient ...
