Properties of Liquid Crystalline Elastomer Foams

Controlled foaming of liquid crystalline elastomers (LCE) with expandable microspheres creates particle‐centred mesogenic interphases that enhance viscoelastic dissipation at low bubble fractions. Under impact, optimal damping shifts to moderate porosity, balancing interphase loss, bubble compression, compliance, and integrity.
