Port scanning is a phase in footprinting and scanning; this comes in reconnaissance which is considered as the first stage of a computer attack. Port scanning aims at finding open ports in a system. These open ports are exploited by attackers to carry out attacks and exploits. There are a number of tools to scan for open ports.

Detection of splenosis by radionuclide scanning
The British Journal of Radiology, 1987Splenosis is the autotransplantation of splenic tissue following trauma. The presence of residual nodules following splenectomy has been investigated by a sensitive scanning method employing reinjection of 99Tcm-labelled, heat-damaged autologous erythrocytes.

Parallel Algorithms and Applications, 2000
Abstract Most automatic parallelizes are based on the detection of independent operations. Dependence analysis is mainly a syntactical process, in which the actual data transformations are ignored. There is another source of parallelism, which relies on semantical information, namely the detection of reductions and scans. Scans and reductions are quite

Detection of Craniosynostosis by Bone Scanning
Radiology, 1975Growth patterns of the cranial sutures were studied by bone scanning in 29 children, 13 of whom had craniosynostosis. Primary craniosynostosis was initiated by localized bony fusion across a suture, associated with an abnormal accumulation of bone-seeking radiopharmaceuticals.

Port scanning is the most popular reconnaissance technique attackers use to discover services they can break into. Port scanning detection has received a lot of attention by researchers. However a slow port scan attack can deceive most of the existing Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS).

Lung scanning for the detection of embolism
British Journal of Diseases of the Chest, 1968Summary Lung scans using 131 I macroaggregated human serum albumin have been carried out on 34 occasions in 31 patients. Pulmonary thromboembolism was suspected in 28 of them. In three patients both the plain chest film and lung scan were normal.
