Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in haemolysis

Ultramicroscopy, 1983
Fixation procedures (Bessis and Weed, 1972) ] for the SEM observation of erythrocytes nowadays prove reliable, so that most artifacts are prevented from occurring. Thus SEM results in a useful method for examining normal and haemolytic patterns. Normal reticulocytes are polylobulate since they undergo through the splenic slits shape remodeling and ...

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) of Plant Tissues

Cold Spring Harbor Protocols, 2008
INTRODUCTIONScanning electron microscopy (SEM) is used to produce detailed images of surface structures. This article details the steps required to prepare a sample for SEM. In brief, the sample is fixed, dehydrated, subjected to critical-point drying, mounted, and coated with an electrically conducting material such as gold or palladium.

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) Methods for Dental Enamel

2019
Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is exceptionally well suited for the study of the structure of dental enamel, due to its ability to create high-resolution images of hard surfaces. Continuous attention on how to arrive at the observation stage with a clean and dry specimen is one main aspect of specimen preparation.

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) of the Chick Embryo Primitive Streak

Differentiation, 1977
The structure of the cells forming the primitive streak was examined by SEM in a series of embryos at Hamburger and Hamilton's stages 2--5. Specimens were prepared by stripping the endoderm from fresh embryos in New Culture and by fracturing whole fixed embryos along and at right angles to the primitive streak.
