Mollusca, Scaphopoda, Gadilidae, Striocadulus magdalenensis Gracia and Ardila, 2009: first record of the genus and species from Brazil [PDF]
Striocadulus magdalenensis Gracia and Ardila, 2009 was collected from Brazilian deep waters (700 meters) at North Brazil, off Amapá. This species is characterized by a large shell (length up to 32 mm) and slender profile, wich resembles a Gadila, but ...

Progress and Challenges in Phylogenomics and Genomics of Lophotrochozoa/Spiralia
ABSTRACT Lophotrochozoa is one of the three major bilaterian groups comprising more than half of the bilaterian phyla. Lophotrochozoa includes among others Mollusca, Annelida, Platyhelminthes and Rotifera. Despite representing such a large proportion of animal diversity, they are historically understudied and genomic resources have been scarce. However,

Sea star (class Asteroidea, phylum Echinodermata) is one of the most successful marine organisms inhabiting a wide range of habitats. As one of the key stone species, sea stars are responsible for maintaining much of the local diversity of species within certain communities.

ABSTRACT Introduction and Aim Spatiotemporal and taxonomic sampling bias in biodiversity occurrence data poses critical challenges for robust ecological inference, species distribution models (SDMs), and conservation planning. Despite the exponential growth in global biodiversity records over recent decades, these biases persist.

Benthic marine calcifiers coexist with CaCO3‐undersaturated seawater worldwide
Abstract Ocean acidification and decreasing seawater saturation state with respect to calcium carbonate (CaCO3) minerals have raised concerns about the consequences to marine organisms that build CaCO3 structures. A large proportion of benthic marine calcifiers incorporate Mg2+ into their skeletons (Mg‐calcite), which, in general, reduces mineral ...

This study describes the relationship between mollusks, physicochemical properties of seawater, and sediments under natural conditions of low impact. Thirty‐nine stations were sampled in October 1994 using a Van Veen grab (0.1 m−2). Temperature, salinity, and dissolved oxygen (DO) concentrations of bottom water were obtained with a CTD.
