NEW SPECIES OF BOLBOCEROSOMA (SCARABAEIDAE)
The Canadian Entomologist, 1924The generic name Bolbocerosoma was proposed by Mr. Schæffer in 1906 (Trans. Amer. Ent. Soc., XXII, pp. 250-254) to take care of the species Scarabaeus forcuts Fabricius and its supposed synonym tumefactus Beauvois. Oddly enough, the misgivings of M. Beauvois.

Astroorientation inLethrus (Coleoptera, Scarabaeidae)
Journal of Comparative Physiology ? A, 19771. Providing the nest with vegetable food,Lethrus performs repeated excursions of about l m from the hole and returns home. 2. Homing by the straight line,Lethrus walks in compass direction toward the nest; the distance traveled is equal to the estimated distance to the hole, and in a case of faultLethrus begins the circling search ...

Systematic Entomology, 2005
Abstract. To reconstruct the phylogeny of the Sericini and their systematic position among the scarabaeid beetles, cladistic analyses were performed using 107 morphological characters from the adults and larvae of forty‐nine extant scarabaeid genera. Taxa represent most ‘traditional’ subfamilies of coprophagous

The optomotor response (OMR) was measured by the modified method of Hassenstein. The OMR was observed at angular velocities of 0.5???5500?? per. sec. The optimal frequency of contrast was 3???5 sec????? . The sensitivity to rotating patterns was similar in frontal, middle, and hind parts of an eye. Every eye ensures a half of the turning command.

Coleopteran Pests: Family Scarabaeidae
2020This chapter studies Coleopteran pests. The larvae of turfgrass-infesting species of the family Scarabaeidae constitute a large complex whose members (white grubs) are similar in general appearance, in habits, and in the turfgrass damage they cause.

A new species of the Pachydeminae subfamily is described and the new genus Kryzhanovskia gen. n. is determined for it. The genus is characterized by the following features: the last segment of maxillary palps is long, narrow, without a fossa on top; antennae are ten-segment with a six-segment club (Fig.
