Contribution to the knowledge of the Scarabaeoidea (Coleoptera) of Jordan

Abstract 37 species of Scarabaeoidea are recorded from Jordan, and 27 of them are recorded for the first time as a result of the examination of more than 1700 specimens of Scarabaeoidea deposited in the University of Jordan Insects Museum, some Italian Museums and private collections. Another 24 species are included from literature records.

The Scarabaeoidea Latreille (Coleoptera) of the Madeiran Archipelago

We present an updated checklist for Madeira Archipelago's Scarabaeoidea Latreille, 1802, fauna. Considerable change has been observed over the last 15 years: four alien Cetoniidae (Cetonia aurataeformis, Protaetia cuprea brancoi, P. opaca and Oxythyrea funesta) have started to breed successfully in Madeira and Porto Santo islands.

Phylogenetic relationships in Hybosoridae (Coleoptera: Scarabaeoidea)

AbstractHybosoridae comprise five extant subfamilies (Anaidinae, Ceratocanthinae, Hybosorinae, Liparochrinae and Pachyplectrinae). The phylogenetics of Anaidinae and Ceratocanthinae have been analysed previously. This is the first thorough analysis with greater representation of the entire family, especially regarding Hybosorinae.

A checklist of the Scarabaeoidea (Coleoptera) of Panama

A checklist of the Scarabaeoidea (Coleoptera) of Chile with exemplar live-photographed

An updated list of the Scarabaeoidea (Coleoptera) species registered in Chile is given, which includes current names, synonyms, and photographs of live specimens of 88 species. The photographs cover 35% of the species present in the country, with all families represented except for Glaresidae and Ochodaeidae.

The fossil record of scarab beetles (Coleoptera: Scarabaeoidea) is reviewed and its relevance for the reconstruction of the evolutionary history of the taxon is explored. After a discussion of the different kinds of preservation of scarab fossils, including preservation of color, the richest scarab deposits are identified.
