On the subset Combinatorics of G-spaces [PDF]
Let $G$ be a group and let $X$ be a transitive $G$-space. We classify the subsets of $X$ with respect to a translation invariant ideal $\mathcal{J}$ in the Boolean algebra of all subsets of $X$, introduce and apply the relative combinatorical derivations

Banach Algebras with Scattered Structure Spaces [PDF]
1. For a commutative semisimple Banach algebra B, let 9lZB denote its space of nonzero multiplicative linear functionals, and x->)x its Gelfand representation. A well-known theorem of Silov [1; 15 ] shows that for any compactopen subset U of 9)fB there is an x in B with xe the characteristic function 4u of U. An immediate consequence is the fact that B

Validity of a Wearable Digital Insole for Assessing Gait ON and OFF in Parkinson's Disease
ABSTRACT Objective Gait impairment is a distinctive symptom of Parkinson's disease that negatively impact mobility. We assessed the validity of wearable digital insoles against a validated reference gait analysis system for measuring select gait characteristics in patients with Parkinson's disease. Methods A comparative analysis between digital insoles

X-ray scattering from stepped and kinked surfaces: An approach with the paracrystal model
A general formalism of X-ray scattering from different kinds of surface morphologies is described. Based on a description of the surface morphology at the atomic scale through the use of the paracrystal model and discrete distributions of distances, the ...

Universal spaces for classes of scattered eberlein compact spaces
AbstractWe discuss the existence of universal spaces (either in the sense of embeddings or continuous images) for some classes of scattered Eberlein compacta. Given a cardinal κ, we consider the class δκof all scattered Eberlein compact spaces K of weight ≤ κ and such that the second Cantor-Bendixson derivative of K is a singleton.

ABSTRACT Objective Cognitive decline is a disabling and variable feature of Parkinson disease (PD). While cholinergic system degeneration is linked to cognitive impairments in PD, most prior research reported cross‐sectional associations. We aimed to fill this gap by investigating whether baseline regional cerebral vesicular acetylcholine transporter ...

Scattered Radiation Emission Imaging: Principles and Applications
Imaging processes built on the Compton scattering effect have been under continuing investigation since it was first suggested in the 50s. However, despite many innovative contributions, there are still formidable theoretical and technical challenges to ...

Optical detection of a BCS phase transition in a trapped gas of fermionic atoms
Light scattering from a spin-polarized degenerate Fermi gas of trapped ultracold Li-6 atoms is studied. We find that the scattered light contains information which directly reflects the quantum pair correlation due to the formation of atomic Cooper pairs

Developmental and Epileptic Encephalopathy due to Biallelic Pathogenic Variants in PIGM
ABSTRACT Objective PIGM encodes a critical enzyme in the glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)‐anchor biosynthesis pathway. While promoter‐region mutations in PIGM have been associated with a relatively mild phenotype characterized by portal vein thrombosis and absence seizures, recent evidence suggests that coding‐region mutations result in a more severe

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.
