The Inner Envelope and Disk of L1527 Revealed: Gemini L'-band Scattered Light Imaging

open access: yes, 2010
We present high-resolution L'-band imaging of the inner scattered light structure of Class 0 protostar L1527 IRS (IRAS 04368+2557) taken with the Gemini North telescope. The central point-source like feature seen in Spitzer Space Telescope IRAC images is

On demand entanglement in double quantum dots via coherent carrier scattering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We show how two qubits encoded in the orbital states of two quantum dots can be entangled or disentangled in a controlled way through their interaction with a weak electron current.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Scattering from a Buried PEMC Cylinder Illuminated by a Normally Incident Plane Wave Propagating in Free Space

open access: yesAdvanced Electromagnetics, 2018
A rigorous solution is presented to the problem of scattering by a perfect electromagnetic conducting (PEMC) circular cylinder buried inside a dielectric half-space that is excited by a normally incident transverse magnetic (TM) plane wave propagating in

Modeling lightning observations from space-based platforms (CloudScat.jl 1.0) [PDF]

open access: yesGeoscientific Model Development, 2020
We describe a computer code that simulates how a satellite observes optical radiation emitted by a lightning flash after it is scattered within an intervening cloud.

Countable Products of Scattered Paracompact Spaces [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1983
In this paper we prove that the product of countably many scattered paracompact spaces is even ultraparacompact.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Lo Batèu de pèira, ou la recherche des signes

open access: yesRevue des Langues Romanes, 2022
Lo Batèu de pèira: two main places, Nîmes and Africa; several main periods of the 20th century. Space and time are intertwined throughout the story. This article attempts to decipher, through an apparent narrative complexity, the signs scattered by the ...

On scattered convex geometries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A convex geometry is a closure space satisfying the anti-exchange axiom. For several types of algebraic convex geometries we describe when the collection of closed sets is order scattered, in terms of obstructions to the semilattice of compact elements ...
