The Impact of High‐Productivity Processing on the Fatigue Failure of an Additive Manufactured Superalloy HAYNES 282

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The low cycle fatigue life of additive manufactured HAYNES® 282® superalloy was investigated for conventional and high‐productivity processing: samples of the former lasted 1400–1700 cycles, while samples of the latter failed at ~ 1200 cycles, at 760 °C and 1% strain.

Impacts of climatic factors and landscape patterns on megacity carbon sink in the mountain–basin transition region: A study based on the XGBoost–SHAP model in Chengdu, China

open access: yesEcological Informatics
Carbon sources and sinks are crucial to climate regulation. Megacities, as major emitters, encounter increasing pressure from rapid land-use changes and ecological degradation.

Immunological and pathological investigations of non-specific reactive hepatitis in shelter dogs

open access: yesActa Veterinaria, 2019
The aim of this study was to describe the gross, histopathological and immunohistochemical features of non-specific reactive hepatitis (NSRH) in stray dogs. To perform this study the livers of 23 dogs of different breed and sex were used.

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

Newtonian scattering in Hilbert space

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1990
The theory of scattering for classical Newtonian mechanics has been some what neglected. The authors study in detail the case of a particle in a potential field \(F(x)=-V'(x)\in C^ 1({\mathbb{R}})\), \(\ddot x=F(x)\), \(x(0)=q\), \(\dot x(0)=p\). The above initial value problem generates the map \(T(t):\Sigma \to \Sigma,\quad \Sigma \equiv {\mathbb{R}}^

Radial Kernels Collocation Method for the Solution of Volterra Integro-Differential Equations

open access: yesScience, Engineering and Technology
Radial kernel interpolation is an advanced method in approximation theory for the construction of higher order accurate interpolants for scattered data up to higher dimensional spaces. In this manuscript, we formulate a radial kernel collocation approach

Advancing Research on Biomaterials and Biological Materials with Scanning Electron Microscopy under Environmental and Low Vacuum Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...
