Are Eberlein–Grothendieck scattered spaces $$\sigma $$ σ -discrete? [PDF]

open access: yesRevista de la Real Academia de Ciencias Exactas, Fisicas y Naturales. Serie A. Matematicas, 2013
A space $X$ is Eberlein-Grothendieck if $X\subset C_p(K)$ for some compact space $K.$ In this paper we address the problem of whether such a space $X$ is $\sigma$-discrete whenever it is scattered. We show that if $w(K)\leq\omega_1$ then $X$ is $\sigma$-dicrete whenever $X$ has height $\omega_1$ and it is locally compact or locally countable.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

On finite unions and finite products with the D-property [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We show that the product of a subparacompact C-scattered space and a Lindelöf D-space is D. In addition, we show that every regular locally D-space which is the union of a finite collection of subparacompact spaces and metacompact spaces has the D ...

Domination of operators in the non-commutative setting

open access: yes, 2013
We consider majorization problems in the non-commutative setting. More specifically, suppose $E$ and $F$ are ordered normed spaces (not necessarily lattices), and $0 \leq T \leq S :E \to F$.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Chronological and Spatial Distribution of Skeletal Muscle Fat Replacement in FHL1‐Related Myopathies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Variants in the FHL1 gene cause FHL1‐related myopathies (FHL1‐RMs), a group of neuromuscular disorders with diverse clinical presentations. This study aimed to comprehensively characterize the spatial and temporal patterns of skeletal muscle fat replacement throughout the whole body in FHL1‐RMs, to examine disease progression over ...

A Multiscale RBF Collocation Method for the Numerical Solution of Partial Differential Equations

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
In this paper, we derive and discuss the hierarchical radial basis functions method for the approximation to Sobolev functions and the collocation to well-posed linear partial differential equations.

Reduced Muscular Carnosine in Proximal Myotonic Myopathy—A Pilot 1H‐MRS Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Myotonic dystrophy type 2 (proximal myotonic myopathy, PROMM) is a progressive multisystem disorder with muscular symptoms (proximal weakness, pain, myotonia) and systemic manifestations such as diabetes mellitus, cataracts, and cardiac arrhythmias.

The functional performance of the contemporary housing system based on the typology of organizing the interior space; a case study: residential complexes in the city of Shiraz [PDF]

open access: yesمسکن و محیط روستا, 2023
Despite scattered criticisms of the philosophical and mathematical foundations of the theory of spatial syntax and ongoing discussions about its application, this method has proven to be a powerful conceptual tool for analyzing the built environment. The

Discovery and Targeted Proteomic Studies Reveal Striatal Markers Validated for Huntington's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Clinical trials for Huntington's disease (HD) enrolling persons before clinical motor diagnosis (CMD) lack validated biomarkers. This study aimed to conduct an unbiased discovery analysis and a targeted examination of proteomic biomarkers scrutinized by clinical validation. Methods Cerebrospinal fluid was obtained from PREDICT‐HD and
