Anisotropy of the structure factor of magnetic fluids under a field probed by small-angle neutron scattering

Physical Review E, 2002
Small-angle neutron scattering is used to measure the two-dimensional diffraction pattern of a monophasic magnetic colloid, under an applied magnetic field. This dipolar system presents in zero field a fluidlike structure. It is well characterized by an interaction parameter K(0)(T) proportional to the second virial coefficient, which is here positive,

Investigation of scattering coefficients and anisotropy factors of human cancerous and normal prostate tissues using Mie theory

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
The scattering coefficient, μ s , the anisotropy factor, g, the scattering phase function, p(θ) , and the angular dependence of scattering intensity distributions of human cancerous and normal prostate tissues were systematically investigated as a function of wavelength, scattering angle and scattering particle size using Mie theory and experimental

Distinct anisotropy and a high power factor in highly textured TiS2 ceramics via mechanical exfoliation.

Chemical Communications, 2020
Polycrystalline bulk of TiS2 with a remarkable enhancement of the texture degree was obtained by densifying powders refined by a liquid-based mechanical exfoliation process. As compared to the pristine TiS2, the in-(a-b)-plane mobility in the exfoliation

Effect of scattering anisotropy on the thermal-neutron use factor

Soviet Atomic Energy, 1973
The results of the calculations presented in Table 6 are qualitatively in mutual agreement, and clearly contradict the results of [3]. If follows from our results that there is really no need to take account of the second and higher angular moments of the scattering indicatrix in practical calculations of the thermal-neutron use factor.

Simple analytical total diffuse reflectance over a reduced-scattering-pathlength scaled dimension of [10-5, 10-1] from a medium with HG scattering anisotropy.

Applied Optics, 2019
Model approximation is necessary for reflectance assessment of tissue at sub-diffusive to non-diffusive scale. For tissue probing over a sub-diffusive circular area centered on the point of incidence, we demonstrate simple analytical steady-state total ...

Significant Reorientation Transition of Magnetic Damping Anisotropy in Co2FeAl Heusler Alloy Films at Low Temperatures.

ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, 2022
The temperature (T) dependences of magnetization dynamics, especially for magnetic damping anisotropy, have been systematically investigated in well-ordered Co2FeAl films with a biaxial anisotropy.

Backscattered Stokes Vectors of Turbid Media: Anisotropy Factor and Reduced Scattering Coefficient Estimation

2007 29th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2007
Optical characterization of biological tissues is of real interest to improve medical diagnosis and in particular in the detection of precancerous tissues. The reduced scattering coefficient micro's and the absorption coefficient microa are the most commonly retrieved coefficients. Some methods also allow to obtain the anisotropy factor g, but only few

Spatially Resolved Lateral Transmission Measurements to Characterize Changes in the Scattering Coefficient and the Anisotropy Factor

Applied Spectroscopy, 2018
A new setup is described to characterize the scattering coefficient and the scattering phase function of liquid media. The setup utilizes the basic idea of a spatially resolved reflectance measurement combined with a sophisticated illumination geometry.
