Milk homogenization monitoring: Fat globule size estimation from scattering spectra of milk

open access: yes, 2020
The fat globule size distribution of raw milk and milk with an increasing degree of homogenization was estimated based on their bulk light scattering properties in the Vis/NIR wavelength range.

The Nonlinear Meissner Effect in Unconventional Superconductors

open access: yes, 1995
We examine the long-wavelength current response in anisotropic superconductors and show how the field-dependence of the Meissner penetration length can be used to detect the structure of the order parameter.

Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

Effects of optical variables in a single integrating sphere system on estimation of scattering properties of turbid media

open access: yes, 2020
This research was aimed at determining the effect of optical variables for a single integrating sphere system, coupled with the inverse adding-doubling method, on estimating the reduced scattering coefficient ( μ s ′ ) of turbid media. Integrating sphere

Striped quantum Hall phases

open access: yes, 2000
Recent experiments seem to confirm predictions that interactions lead to charge density wave ground states in higher Landau levels. These new ``correlated'' ground states of the quantum Hall system manifest themselves for example in a strongly ...

Imaging of Biphoton States: Fundamentals and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum states of two photons exhibit a rich polarization and spatial structure, which provides a fundamental resource of strongly correlated and entangled states. This review analyzes the physics of these intriguing properties and explores the various techniques and technologies available to measure them, including the state of the art of their ...

Topology-Enhanced Nonreciprocal Scattering and Photon Absorption in a Waveguide

open access: yes, 2020
Topological matter and topological optics have been studied in many systems, with promising applications in materials science and photonics technology. These advances motivate the study of the interaction between topological matter and light, as well as ...

Heat Transport and the Nature of the Order Parameter in Superconducting $UPt_3$

open access: yes, 1995
Recent thermal conductivity data on the heavy fermion superconductor $UPt_3$ have been interpreted as offering support for an $E_{2u}$ model of the order parameter as opposed to an $E_{1g}$ model.

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.
