Effect of multiple light scattering on transmitted and scattered light
Applied Optics, 1991Photocount distributions have been calculated and experimentally determined for light transmitted through a dispersion of particles of varying density. From these the coherent and incoherent components of the transmitted light intensity could be determined. The coherent intensity was shown to obey the Lambert-Beer law.

Effect of noise on chaotic scattering
Physical Review E, 2009When noise is present in a scattering system, particles tend to escape faster from the scattering region as compared with the noiseless case. For chaotic scattering, noise can render particle-decay exponential, and the decay rate typically increases with the noise intensity.

Electron scattering by atomic chains: Multiple-scattering effects
Physical Review B, 1989Multiple-scattering effects of electrons traveling along atomic chains are shown to be important and useful for surface structure determination, especially in the medium-energy range (200\char21{}1000 eV). This applies to techniques based on diffraction of elastic electrons, such as medium-energy electron diffraction, as well as to techniques based on ...

Multiple scattering effects on the localization of two point scatterers
2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2016Multiple scattering effects are commonly ignored in the detection and estimation of scatterers in signal processing research, because the energy of the first-order scattering is much larger than that of higher-order components. Although multiple scattering can significantly increase the estimation precision of point scatterers, it does not always lead ...

The effect of temperature on the autofluorescence of scattering and non‐scattering tissue
Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, 2012AbstractBackground and ObjectivesWith the increasing use of fluorescence in medical applications, a comprehensive understanding of the effect of temperature on tissue autofluorescence is essential. The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of temperature on the fluorescence of porcine cornea and rat skin and determine the relative ...

Multiple-scattering effects in quasi-free scattering
Il Nuovo Cimento A, 1972The Glauber multiple-scattering theory is applied to the study of quasi-free scattering of high-energy protons by nuclei. The multiple scattering of the knocked-out nucleon is not considered. The differential cross-section is written as a sum of different terms corresponding to single, double, …, incoherent scattering of the incident nucleon inside the

The effects of reactions on elastic scattering
Nuclear Physics, 1962Abstract The behaviour of the phase shifts as a function of momentum when reaction channels are present may be reduced to the case of elastic scattering with no reactions. This is done by subtracting a quantity which may be calculated from a detailed knowledge of total reaction cross sections.

Diffuse And Inelastic Scattering – Multiple Scattering Effects
2004Abstract In the previous chapter we showed that fluctuations of the crystal potential associated with thermal vibrations of atomic nuclei, randomly distributed lattice defects, and electronic excitations give rise to diffuse scattering of high-energy electrons. Using perturbation theory we derived an explicit expression for the amplitude
