A Fast Scattering Model for C-Band Data Simulation in Forest Scenarios
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data simulation of forest canopies is a common method used to study the interaction between radar and forests. The forest canopy contains a large number of small leaves, which require many computing resources to calculate ...

Scattering asymmetry and circular dichroism in coupled PT-symmetric chiral nanoparticles
We investigate the scattering properties of coupled parity-time (PT) symmetric chiral nanospheres with scattering matrix formalism. The exceptional points, i.e., spectral singularities at which the eigenvalues and eigenvectors simultaneously coalesce in ...

Improved van Zyl Polarimetric Decomposition Lessening the Overestimation of Volume Scattering Power
This paper improves van Zyl’s Nonnegative Eigenvalue Decomposition (NNED). Orientation angle compensation and helix scattering are introduced to the decomposition. The volume scattering parameters that explain the most cross-polarized power are selected.

One- and two-photon scattering from generalized V-type atoms [PDF]
The one- and two-photon scattering matrix S is obtained analytically for a one-dimensional waveguide and a point-like scatterer with N excited levels (generalized V -type atom).

Inverse design of EBG waveguides through scattering matrices
Inverse design procedures aim at determining optimal parameters for a given device in order to satisfy assigned specifications. In this contribution, the design of optimal EBG waveguides through inverse problems tools is addressed.

Scattering matrix invariants of Floquet topological insulators [PDF]
Similar to static systems, periodically driven systems can host a variety of topologically non-trivial phases. Unlike the case of static Hamiltonians, the topological indices of bulk Floquet bands may fail to describe the presence and robustness of edge ...

Moments of the Wigner delay times [PDF]
The Wigner time delay is a measure of the time spent by a particle inside the scattering region of an open system. For chaotic systems, the statistics of the individual delay times (whose average is the Wigner time delay) are thought to be well described

Very high frequency radio receiver preselector design
Objectives. The quality of a radio receiver preselector largely determines its main characteristics, including sensitivity. A preselector usually consists of linear elements: inductors, capacitors, low noise amplifiers, and switches. At high frequencies,

A three-dimensional degree of polarization based on Rayleigh scattering [PDF]
A measure of the degree of polarization for the three-dimensional polarization matrix (coherence matrix) of an electromagnetic field is proposed, based on Rayleigh scattering.
