Multi-Time-Scale Coordinated Optimum Scheduling Technique for a Multi-Source Complementary Power-Generating System with Uncertainty in the Source-Load

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
An optimal dispatching strategy for a multi-source complementary power generation system taking source–load uncertainty into account is proposed, in order to address the effects of large-scale intermittent renewable energy consumption and power load ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

From junk to function — How weak selection in eukaryotes builds new parts and drives genomic complexity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
How do genomes gain new functional parts? In eukaryotes, which tend to evolve under weak selection, much of the genome is junk. Palazzo and Qiu borrow the logic of Markov chains to show how non‐functional DNA becomes functional through the appearance of intermediate states, which arise due to epistasis, buffering, and biochemical messiness, allowing ...

Monitoring and control in scenario-based requirements analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Scenarios are an effective means for eliciting, validating and documenting requirements. At the requirements level, scenarios describe sequences of interactions between the software-to-be and agents in the environment.

open access: yesSučasnì Informacìjnì Tehnologìï u Sferì Bezpeki ta Oboroni, 2015
Відповідно до існуючих методичних положень для визначення доцільного способу ведення операції (бойових дій) є необхідність в оцінці ефективності можливих варіантів її ведення та порівняння отриманих результатів.

Development of a Simulation Framework for Analyzing Security of Supply in Integrated Gas and Electric Power Systems

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
Gas and power networks are tightly coupled and interact with each other due to physically interconnected facilities. In an integrated gas and power network, a contingency observed in one system may cause iterative cascading failures, resulting in network

L‐aspartate oxidase provides new insights into fumarate reduction in anaerobic darkness in Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Synechocystis strains deficient in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) secrete more succinate than the WT under dark anaerobic conditions, supporting that SDH then primarily acts as SDH, not as a fumarate reductase. L‐aspartate oxidase (Laspo) from Synechocystis is functional under anaerobic conditions, reducing fumarate to succinate.
