Adversarial Learning Approach to Unsupervised Labeling of Fine Art Paintings

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
An automatic classification of fine art images is limited by the scarcity of high-quality labels made by art experts. This study aims to provide meaningful automatic labeling of fine art paintings (machine labeling) without the need for human annotation.

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Learning from label proportions for SAR image classification

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2017
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image classification plays a key role in SAR interpretation. Due to the cost and difficulty of truth labeling for SAR images, the newly labeled samples available for image classification are very limited. This paper focuses

CLASSIFICATION OF MLS POINT CLOUDS IN URBAN SCENES USING DETRENDED GEOMETRIC FEATURES FROM SUPERVOXEL-BASED LOCAL CONTEXTS [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2018
In this work, we propose a classification method designed for the labeling of MLS point clouds, with detrended geometric features extracted from the points of the supervoxel-based local context.

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Detection-based object labeling in 3D scenes [PDF]

open access: yes2012 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2012
We propose a view-based approach for labeling objects in 3D scenes reconstructed from RGB-D (color+depth) videos. We utilize sliding window detectors trained from object views to assign class probabilities to pixels in every RGB-D frame. These probabilities are projected into the reconstructed 3D scene and integrated using a voxel representation.
