Programmable Packet Scheduling [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Switches today provide a small set of scheduling algorithms. While we can tweak scheduling parameters, we cannot modify algorithmic logic, or add a completely new algorithm, after the switch has been designed. This paper presents a design for a programmable packet scheduler, which allows scheduling algorithms---potentially algorithms that are unknown ...

Assessing the Ecological Value: Monetizing Process Innovations in Tailored Forming

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article introduces a method for evaluating the sustainability of innovations, even with limited data. The method is illustrated through an analysis of the “Tailored Forming” technology, which explores the impact of sustainability on economic value added.

Use of Data Mining in Scheduler Optimization [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
The operating system's role in a computer system is to manage the various resources. One of these resources is the Central Processing Unit. It is managed by a component of the operating system called the CPU scheduler. Schedulers are optimized for typical workloads expected to run on the platform.

Nonclairvoyant scheduling

open access: yesTheoretical Computer Science, 1994
AbstractVirtually all research in scheduling theory has been concerned with clairvoyant scheduling where it is assumed that the characteristics of a job (in particular, its execution time, release time and dependence on other jobs) are known a priori. This assumption is invalid for scheduling problems that arise in time-sharing operating systems where ...

X‐Ray Computed Tomography Quantifies Primary Phases and Reveals Crack Morphology in High‐Cycle Fatigue of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Primary phases and a fatigue crack are studied in a forged blank of an aluminum alloy using synchrotron and laboratory X‐ray computed tomography. To image the crack, the fatigue test is interrupted, and a static tensile load is applied to open the crack.

Schedule contingency analysis for transit projects using a simulation approach

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2013
This paper presents a probabilistic method to establish schedule contingency levels based on percent completion of the project. The objective is providing a distribution for contingency for various percent completion levels which allows the project owner/

A Novel Protein‐Polysaccharide Oral Nanoemulsion Targeting Activated Hepatic Stellate Cells to Enhance the Therapeutic Effect of Pirfenidone on Fibrosis After Transarterial Chemoembolization for Liver Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE) may aggravate liver fibrosis. In this study, a novel oral targeting nanoemulsion is fabricated to enhance the therapeutic effect of antifibrotic drug‐pirfenidone (PFD) on fibrosis after TACE. Studies have shown that PFD nanoemulsion can enhance the oral liver targeting effect of PFD, and effectively improve the ...
