The Power of Scheduling: the Scheduling of Power
Because of the ongoing energy transition, an increasing share of our energy needs is met by electrical energy. At the same time, more and more of this electricity is generated by renewable sources that strongly depend on the weather for their output. This is already causing issues on the Dutch electrical grid.

High‐Entropy Ti, Zr, Hf, Ta Multiphase Diboride with Deformation Resistance up to 2000 °C
Ceramics are brittle and strength decreases with temperature. The multiphase high‐entropy (Ti0.25Ta0.25Hf0.25Zr0.25)B2 with heterogeneity at the nano‐ and microscale demonstrates deformation resistance up to 2000 °C, with maximum bending strength at 1800 °C.

Sufficient FTP Schedulability Test for the Non-Cyclic Generalized Multiframe Task Model [PDF]
Our goal is to provide a sufficient schedulability test -ideally polynomial- for the scheduling of Non-Cyclic Generalized Multiframe Task Model using Fixed-Task-Priority schedulers. We report two first results: (i) we present and prove correct the critical instant for the Non-Cyclic Generalized Multiframe Task Model then (ii) we propose an algorithm ...

A novel technique for fabricating monolithic functionally graded NiTi shape memory alloy (SMA) laminated hybrid composite has been developed. An excellent metallurgical bonding can be established between two compositionally different NiTi SMAs through spark plasma sintering joining/diffusion bonding followed by hot roll bonding.

Sharp utilization thresholds for some real-time scheduling problems [PDF]
Scheduling policies for real-time systems exhibit threshold behavior that is related to the utilization of the task set they schedule, and in some cases this threshold is sharp. For the rate monotonic scheduling policy, we show that periodic workload with utilization less than a threshold $U_{RM}^{*}$ can be scheduled almost surely and that all ...

Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE) may aggravate liver fibrosis. In this study, a novel oral targeting nanoemulsion is fabricated to enhance the therapeutic effect of antifibrotic drug‐pirfenidone (PFD) on fibrosis after TACE. Studies have shown that PFD nanoemulsion can enhance the oral liver targeting effect of PFD, and effectively improve the ...
