High Dynamic Range in Entomological Scheimpflug Lidars [PDF]

open access: hybridIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics, 2021
Minimizing insecticide use, preventing vector diseases and facilitating biodiversity assessments are suitable applications of recent advances in photonic insect surveillance and entomological lidar. The tools also comprise a new window into fundamental aspect of the fascinating life and ecology of insects and their predators in situ . At the same time,

Scheimpflug Camera-Based Technique for Multi-Point Displacement Monitoring of Bridges [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Owing to the limited field of view (FOV) and depth of field (DOF) of a conventional camera, it is quite difficult to employ a single conventional camera to simultaneously measure high-precision displacements at many points on a bridge of dozens or ...

Spatial monitoring of flying insects over a Swedish lake using a continuous-wave lidar system [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2023
We have used a continuous-wave bi-static lidar system based on the Scheimpflug principle in measurements on flying insects above, and in the vicinity of, a small lake located in a forested area in Southern Sweden.

Atmospheric Pollution Monitoring in Urban Area by Employing a 450-nm Lidar System [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2018
In past decades, lidar techniques have become main tools for atmospheric remote sensing. However, traditional pulsed lidar systems are relatively expensive and require considerable maintenance.

Insect fatalities at wind turbines as biodiversity sinks

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, 2021
Evidence is accumulating that insects are frequently killed by operating wind turbines, yet it is poorly understood if these fatalities cause population declines and changes in assemblage structures on various spatial scales. Current observations suggest

Atmospheric aerosol monitoring by an elastic Scheimpflug lidar system

open access: goldOptics Express, 2015
This work demonstrates a new approach - Scheimpflug lidar - for atmospheric aerosol monitoring. The atmospheric backscattering echo of a high-power continuous-wave laser diode is received by a Newtonian telescope and recorded by a tilted imaging sensor satisfying the Scheimpflug condition.

Remote Nanoscopy with Infrared Elastic Hyperspectral Lidar. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh), 2023
A new elastic hyperspectral Scheimpflug lidar that can simultaneously resolve flashes from insect wings in range, time, and wavelength is demonstrated. The coherent scattering from a distant museum insect wing and also from free‐flying insects is captured.

Polarization optical properties of suspended particles measurement in water by a polarized Scheimpflug lidar system

open access: goldOptics Express
The polarization optical properties of suspended particles in water play a pivotal role in numerical simulation or real water medium detection. Polarized multi-wavelength oceanic lidar provides an effective method for characterizing the size, shape, and ...
