Coupling Anodic Reactions in Electrochemical Nitrate Reduction to Ammonia

open access: yesChemElectroChem
Ammonia is a widely produced chemical globally, primarily used in fertilizers and chemical products. Recently, it has gained attention as a green hydrogen carrier due to its high hydrogen content and energy density.

Semantics of Distinguishing Criteria: from Subjective to Intersubjective [PDF]

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Description of Complex Systems, 2012
In this article we are aiming to build cognitive semantics over a first person perspective. Our goal is to specify meanings connected to cognitive agents, rooted in their experience and separable from language, covering a wide spectrum of cognitions ...

Method Schemas

open access: yesJournal of Computer and System Sciences, 1995
AbstractA method schema is a simple programming formalism for object-oriented databases with features such as classes, methods, inheritance, name overloading, and late binding. An important problem is to check whether a given method schema can lead to an inconsistency in some interpretation.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A Schema-Activation Approach to Failure and Success in Self-Control

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2020
Numerous studies confirm the so-called ego depletion effect (i.e., self-control is impaired after an initial unrelated self-control task). During recent years, the criticism on this limited-resource approach to willpower has increased, and alternative ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
