A lectotype is selected among the syntypes of Schendylops caledonicus (Atteins, 1928). The species is re-described and compared to the remaining African species of Schendylops Cook, 1899.

Schendylops achalensis sp. n. (Chilopoda: Geophilomorpha: Schendylidae) is here described and illustrated from a female (holotype) and a male (paratype) from Pampa de Achala plateau, Córdoba mountains (central Argentina).

On the taxonomic status of Thindyla Chamberlin, 1955, a genus of Peruvian centipeds with remarkable sternal modification (Geophilomorpha: Schendylidae) [PDF]
Thindyla, a monotypic genus based upon T. pacifiaJ Chamberlin, 1955, from the coast of Peru, is removed from synonymy under the polyphyletic genus Pectiniunguis on the basis of a deep, large, cylindrical cavity in the sterna of several anterior body segments, not approximated in any other known geophilomorph.
