Schistocerca neuropeptides – An update

open access: yesJournal of Insect Physiology, 2022
We compiled a comprehensive list of 67 precursor genes encoding neuropeptides and neuropeptide-like peptides using the Schistocerca gregaria genome and several transcriptome datasets. 11 of these 67 precursor genes have alternative transcripts, bringing the total number of S. gregaria precursors identified in this study to 81.

Effectiveness of some New Water Based Insecticides Against Locust and Grasshoppers Applied As LV and ULV Spray Techniques in Egypt [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Plant Protection and Pathology, 2021
Efficacy of five water based insecticides on Schistocerca gregaria (Forskal), Locusta migratoria (Linnaeus),and multiple grasshoppers species applied as low volume (LV) and Ultralow volume (ULV) were tested.

Ultrastructural changes in the fat body of desert locust, Schistocerca gregaria (Orthoptera: Acrididae) treated with zinc chromium oxide nanostructures via chemical co-precipitation approach

open access: yesBMC Chemistry, 2023
The present work aims to investigate the ultrastructural changes in the fat body of fifth instar nymphs Schistocerca gregaria (Orthoptera: Acrididae) treated with zinc chromium oxide (ZnCrO).

Band movement and thermoregulation in Schistocerca cancellata

open access: yesJournal of Insect Physiology, 2022
At high density, juvenile locusts create marching hopper bands. Understanding the roles of temperature and vegetation on the movement of these bands shall allow to better forecast and control them. Following a hopper band in North Argentina in November 2019, we explored the thermoregulation behaviours of the South American locust, Schistocerca ...

Phase-dependent morphometric traits of the albino strain of Schistocerca gregaria (Orthoptera: Acrididae) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Orthoptera Research, 2017
Sugahara et al. (2017) reported that unlike the wild type, the albino strain of Schistocerca gregaria does not show phase-dependent shift in the morphometric ratio of F/C (= length of the hind femur/maximum width of the head [caput]). In contrast, my old,

Digital particle image velocimetry measurements of the downwash distribution of a desert locust Schistocerca gregaria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Actuator disc models of insect flight are concerned solely with the rate of momentum transfer to the air that passes through the disc. These simple models assume that an even pressure is applied across the disc, resulting in a uniform downwash ...

THE EFFECT OF ENTOMOPATHOGENIC FUNGUS Metarhizium anisopliae VAR acridum ON FLIGHT MUSCLES IN THE DESERT LOCUST,Schistocerca gregaria (FORSKAL) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Plant Protection and Pathology, 2009
The effect of infecting the flight muscles of adult desert locust Schistocerca gregaria Forskal with the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium anisopliae var acridum was studied.
