Cartographie des zones de reproduction et de grégarisation du criquet pèlerin au Tchad

open access: yesCahiers Agricultures, 2020

Insect‐Derived Bioactives for Glycemic Control and Gut Health: A Review

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 2, March 2026.
Insect‐derived bioactive compounds (e.g., peptides, polysaccharides) effectively regulate blood glucose through dual mechanisms: directly inhibiting carbohydrate‐digesting enzymes and glucose transporters, and indirectly modulating gut microbiota to enhance intestinal barrier integrity.

Presence of [His7]- corazonin in the central nervous system of a newly isolated albino strain of Schistocerca gregaria (Orthoptera: Acrididae) - mass spectrometric and immunocytochemical evidence

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2003
An inbred strain of a newly isolated spontaneous albino mutant of Schistocerca gregaria (Forsk.) was examined for the presence of the neuropeptide [His7]-corazonin by immunocytochemical and mass spectrometric methods.

Regulatory mechanisms of reproduction in locusts and grasshoppers

open access: yesNew Plant Protection, Volume 3, Issue 1, March 2026.
Regulatory networks composed of numerous coding and noncoding genes play crucial roles in the reproduction of locusts and grasshoppers. This review integrates mechanistic advances in reproductive regulation, highlighting environmentally adaptive pathways and providing prospective targets for eco‐friendly pesticides.

Resource Availability Modulates Gene Expression Across Life Stages in a Migratory Butterfly

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 35, Issue 5, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Natural populations are in constant need of balancing resource allocation to compensate for seasonal environmental variation. In many insects, a well‐established trade‐off between migration and reproduction exists. While this trade‐off has been characterised phenotypically for decades, the underlying regulatory pathways are poorly understood ...

Sensilla-Specific Expression of Odorant Receptors in the Desert Locust Schistocerca gregaria

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2019
The desert locust Schistocerca gregaria recognizes multiple chemical cues, which are received by olfactory sensory neurons housed in morphologically identifiable sensilla.

Crepitation in Schistocerca americana (Orthoptera: Acrididae)

open access: yesJournal of Orthoptera Research, 1996
Schistocerca americana males were found to crepitate during interactions with other males in the field. More research will need to be Otte (1970) compiled observations on the mating behavior of approximately 100 species of grasshoppers. The mating behavior of Schistocerca lineata (Scudder) is the only member of its genus treated.

Review: Nutrient requirements of migratory and desert locusts farmed for food or feed

open access: yesAnimal
Locusts are important pests of crops and natural vegetation, and they have been intensively studied in the last decades. With the emergence of insect farming for food and feed applications, the desert locust (Schistocerca gregaria) and the migratory ...
