Insect‐Derived Bioactives for Glycemic Control and Gut Health: A Review
Insect‐derived bioactive compounds (e.g., peptides, polysaccharides) effectively regulate blood glucose through dual mechanisms: directly inhibiting carbohydrate‐digesting enzymes and glucose transporters, and indirectly modulating gut microbiota to enhance intestinal barrier integrity.

Regulatory mechanisms of reproduction in locusts and grasshoppers
Regulatory networks composed of numerous coding and noncoding genes play crucial roles in the reproduction of locusts and grasshoppers. This review integrates mechanistic advances in reproductive regulation, highlighting environmentally adaptive pathways and providing prospective targets for eco‐friendly pesticides.

Summary The sterile insect technique (SIT) is increasingly used to control pest insect populations. The success of SIT control programs depends on the ability to release sterile males and on the capacity of sterile males to compete with wild males to ...

Resource Availability Modulates Gene Expression Across Life Stages in a Migratory Butterfly
ABSTRACT Natural populations are in constant need of balancing resource allocation to compensate for seasonal environmental variation. In many insects, a well‐established trade‐off between migration and reproduction exists. While this trade‐off has been characterised phenotypically for decades, the underlying regulatory pathways are poorly understood ...

Desert locust (Schistocerca gregaria Forskal) and its management: A review
The desert locust, Schistocerca gregaria (Forskal) (Orthoptera: Acrididae), is the world’s most dangerous and destructive migratory pest. It is a highly voracious and polyphagous insect. Its swarms can migrate hundreds of kilometers per day and

Two distinct lineages of L. invasa and the dominant endosymbiont, Rickettsia, was identified, followed by an analysis of its infection density across various developmental stages and tissues of L. invasa. Furthermore, two distinct strains of the Rickettsia endosymbiont were detected, and the phylogenetic relationships between these strains and their L.

A quantitative study of adipokinetic hormone of the firebug, Pyrrhocoris apterus [PDF]
The development of an enzyme-linked immunoassay (ELISA) for the adipokinetic neuropeptide hormone, Pya-AKH, from the firebug Pyrrhocoris apterus L. is described. The ELISA measures as little as 20 fmol of Pya-AKH.

Enzymatic Hydrolysis Methods of Insect Orthoptera Protein: A Systematic Review
Insects from the Orthoptera order, such as grasshoppers and crickets, are increasingly receiving attention as potential alternative protein sources, especially due to their high protein content and biofunctional properties that can be developed through enzymatic hydrolysis processes.
