Xylanase A of Schizophyllum commune

1988
Publisher Summary Xylanases belong to a broader group of enzymes, hemicellulases, responsible for conversion of hemicelluloses to soluble sugars. Hemicellulases in general and xylanases in particular are also of some commercial interest. This chapter describes the assay method, production, and properties of xylanase A of Schizophyllum commune .

Characterization of the genome of the basidiomycete Schizophyllum commune

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Nucleic Acids and Protein Synthesis, 1979
DNA of Schizophyllum commune was isolated both from mycelial cells and from protoplasts. Nuclear DNA was isolated after solubilization of the mitochondria with the detergent Nonidet. The G + C content of the nuclear DNA was 57%, calculated from its buoyant density (1.7165 g/ml) and from the Tm (77.4 degrees C in 15 mM NaCl/1.5 mM trisodium citrate ...

STUDIES OF THE CELL WALLS OF SCHIZOPHYLLUM COMMUNE

American Journal of Botany, 1966
Mechanically isolated cell wall materials of eight strains of Schizophyllum commune were studied by chemical and enzymatic procedures. Isolated wall material of each strain was separated by chemical methods into three fractions: A (cold alkali‐soluble, , amorphous), B (warm alkali‐soluble ...

Longevity of Schizophyllum commune

Nature, 1945
IN October 1909 the late A. H. R. Buller collected at Winnipeg fresh fruit-bodies of the xerophytic agaric Schizophyllum commune Fr. and placed them in his laboratory. On December 10, 1910, a number of whole or part pilei were sealed in glass tubes in a vacuum of less than 0·1 mm. pressure of mercury, and stored in the dark at room temperature1,2.

Origin of Expressed Mutations in Schizophyllum commune

Nature, 1961
PREVIOUS investigations on tetrapolar sexuality in Basidiomycetes1–3 have shown that morphologically aberrant sectors arise in surprisingly high frequency in the common-A heterokaryons of Schizophyllum commune. These heterokaryons are established whenever mat ings are made of two strains which share common factors at one of the two complex loci ...

Meiosis in Schizophyllum commune

Archives of Microbiology, 1974
Meiosis in Schizophyllum commune is asynchronous. Various stages of the first meiotic division can be detected. The only stage in which the bivalents are spread sufficiently is metaphase I. Based on counts in metaphase I it is proposed that n=8.

Iminolactones from Schizophyllum commune

Journal of Natural Products, 2015
Schizines A (1) and B (2), the first naturally occurring iminolactones (3,6-dihydro-2H-1,4-oxazin-2-one derivatives) to be reported, have been isolated from the fruiting bodies of Schizophyllym commune. In principle the 2-oxazinone moiety might have been formed by a reaction between the amino acid phenylalanine or tryptophan and an 2α-hydroxy-1 ...

Control of erythritol dehydrogenase in Schizophyllum commune

Archiv fr Mikrobiologie, 1967
An NAD-dependent erythritol dehydrogenase was detected in cell-extracts of basidiospore germinants of Schizophyllum commune following culture on either meso-erythritol or glycerol as sole carbon sources. Induction of erythritol dehydrogenase was also observed in purely vegetative mycelium (str. 845 or str. 699).
