An Infrared Thermography Approach to Evaluate the Strength of a Rock Cliff

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2021
The mechanical strength is a fundamental characteristic of rock masses that can be empirically related to a number of properties and to the likelihood of instability phenomena.

Suggestion of New Formulations for Schmidt Hammer and UPV Test Methods for Concrete [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The concrete is the most widely used building material in Turkey. Especially reinforced concrete dominates at building sector. Because of concrete is an non-homogeneous and non-isotropic material, the strength of concrete cannot be accurately achieved at

USING THE SCHMIDT HAMMER TO IMPROVE THE FORECASTING ACCURACY OF THE ROCKFALL ACTIVITY INDEX (RAI)

open access: yes, 2023
The Schmidt hammer is a widely used and inexpensive instrument for estimating rock strength either in the lab or in the field. Our research team tested the accuracy and repeatability of the Schmidt hammer to estimate rock strength on six Alaskan rock ...

Drivers of Scope 3 Emissions Disclosure Quality—CDP Analysis

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Scope 3 emissions account for a significant portion of a supply chain's carbon footprint, yet very little research explores the key drivers of high‐quality Scope 3 disclosures. Additionally, while climate governance is a vital part of both improving carbon performance and ensuring corporate accountability, its broader impact on disclosure ...

Correlation Between Cerchar Abrasivity Index with Rock Properties in Sandstone and Tuff Samples [PDF]

open access: yesMuhandisī-i manābi̒-i ma̒danī
The abrasivity of materials is of vital importance in selecting an affordable excavation method in the early stages of a tunneling project. The amount of specific energy and the Mode I and Mode II stress intensity factors in the eroded disc is more than ...

Consumer Adoption of Internet of Things

open access: yesJournal of Consumer Behaviour, Volume 24, Issue 2, Page 673-693, March 2025.
ABSTRACT The Internet of Things (IoT), a pivotal technology in enhancing user connectivity, faces a paradox: its widespread potential yet limited consumer adoption. This study addresses this dichotomy by synthesizing a large‐scale meta‐analytic structural equation modeling (MASEM) and hierarchical linear meta‐analysis (HiLMA) of 2736 effect sizes from ...

Using the Schmidt Hammer on Rock Mass Characteristic in Sedimentary Rock at Tutupan Coal Mine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The uniaxial compressive strength is one of important parameter to determine the shear strength of rock mass by the rock classification method. To determine uniaxial compressive strength used by a testing on laboratory or in practically can use t he ...

Fracture Development Mechanism of Water‐Isolating Soil Layers During Downward Mining of Shallow‐Buried Coal Seam Groups

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study systematically investigates the fracture development mechanisms of water‐isolating soil layers under the coupled effects of repeated mining and groundwater seepage during the downward mining of shallow‐buried coal seams. The findings provide a theoretical basis for evaluating stratum stability and preventing roof water inrush.

Legacy effects of redlining on the distribution of greenspaces in US cities

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and the Environment, EarlyView.
We investigated how a discriminatory housing policy—redlining—has shaped the spatial patterns and configurations of greenspaces throughout 177 cities in the contiguous US. Housing segregation has been a long‐term development practice that has sequestered communities of color to areas with elevated environmental and public health risks.
