Probability of sequelae following Campylobacter spp. infections: Update of systematic reviews and meta‐analyses

open access: yesPublic Health Challenges, Volume 2, Issue 4, December 2023., 2023
Updated estimates on the probability to develop sequelae after a Campylobacter enteritis are made available in this meta‐analysis: The pooled proportions of Campylobacter enteritis cases that developed sequelae ranged between 0.07% for Guillain–Barré syndrome and 4.48% for irritable bowel syndrome.

Improving the Raman Model for Dravite and Schorl Tourmalines by μXANES Analysis of Iron Oxidation States

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, Volume 56, Issue 11, Page 1144-1153, November 2025.
By integrating μRaman and μXANES techniques, one can acquire insights into the oxidation state of iron in tourmalines from the dravite–schorl series, thereby enhancing the accuracy of the Mg/(Mg + Fe2+) ratio. The observed linear correlations for P2 peak position, P1/P2 relative intensities, and WOH(3) peak position in the Raman spectrum enable the ...

Cross‐country variance in facial emotion recognition in presymptomatic and symptomatic behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia: Insights from the GENFI and ReDLat consortia

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract INTRODUCTION We investigated international differences in facial emotion recognition (FER) across stages of frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Previous studies may have missed early decline by combining data and masking variations in FER across countries.

Reconstructing Early Cenozoic Paleodrainage and Tectonic Evolution in the Southeastern Tibetan Plateau: Evidence From Detrital Zircon and Tourmaline Provenance

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract The Paleogene sedimentary basins of southeastern Tibet record sediment dispersal patterns associated with crustal deformation during the early stages of the India–Asia collision. We present detrital zircon U–Pb geochronology, tourmaline geochemistry, and petrographic data from the Gonjo and Mangkang basins that suggest a reginal interconnected

Experimental investigation of oxygen diffusion in the peak and valley region of minibeam patterns during x‐ray irradiation

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 52, Issue 8, August 2025.
Abstract Background Minibeam radiotherapy has demonstrated its potential to reduce normal tissue toxicity while maintaining tumor control. However, the underlying mechanisms behind this phenomenon remain unknown. Recent theoretical studies suggest a dose surrogate by diffusion of H2O2${\rm H}_2{\rm O}_2$ into the valley regions.

Australian continental‐scale heavy mineral patterns track climate, weathering and erosion

open access: yesSedimentology, Volume 72, Issue 5, Page 1430-1452, August 2025.
ABSTRACT The heavy mineral cargo of sediment is influenced by a complex and variable overprint of climate and environmental processes acting on weathered crystalline basement sources. Here, a continental‐scale heavy mineral compositional dataset of 1315 surface sediment samples, analysed via automated mineralogy, from across Australia is utilized to ...

Structural and functional connectivity in tau mutation carriers: from presymptomatic to symptomatic frontotemporal dementia

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Microtubule‐associated protein tau (MAPT) mutations cause frontotemporal dementia (FTD), characterised by behavioural, language, and motor impairments due to brain connectivity disruptions. We investigated structural and functional connectivity in 86 mutation carriers and 272 controls to map connectivity changes at different ...

Sex differences in clinical phenotypes of behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Higher male prevalence in sporadic behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD) has been reported. We hypothesized differences in phenotypes between genetic and sporadic bvFTD females resulting in underdiagnosis of sporadic bvFTD females.

Phenotypic upregulation of hexocylceramides and ether‐linked phosphocholines as markers of human extreme longevity

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 4, April 2025.
Mass spectrometry analysis of 569 lipid species showed that ceramide‐to‐hexosylceramide conversion and the preservation of ether‐linked PC levels are key phenotypic traits ensuring extreme longevity. This lipidomic signature is shaped by an intrinsic adaptive program that maintains protective mechanisms and cellular identity.

Monazite in polymetallic chlorite-(tourmaline)-quartz-(fluorite)-cassiterite-sulphide lodes and its potential for constraining the chronology of magmatic hydrothermal mineralisation in Cornwall. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Monazite [(Ce, La, Th, Nd, Y) PO4] occurs far more widely within the magmatic hydrothermal lode systems of Cornwall than has been previously recognised. In situ and mine dump specimens analysed by binocular and transmitted light microscopy, SEM, XRD and
