Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact

An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.

Bridging the Gap Between Human Toxicology and Ecotoxicology Under One Health Perspective by a Cross‐Species Adverse Outcome Pathway Network for Reproductive Toxicity

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology and Chemistry, EarlyView.
Cross‐species extrapolation of adverse outcome pathway network on reproductive toxicity under the One Health perspective using new approach methodologies. AOP = adverse outcome pathway. Abstract Although ecotoxicological and toxicological risk assessments are performed separately from each other, recent efforts have been made in both disciplines to ...

Convergence of Organ‐on‐a‐Chip and Freeform Printing of Sacrificial Poly(2‐cyclopropyl‐2‐oxazoline) Enables the Generation of Perfusable Endothelialized Channels in Hydrogels

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
We employ freeform printing of thermo‐responsive poly(2‐oxazoline) to directly fabricate suspended sacrificial vascular templates within Organ‐on‐a‐chip devices. This enables circular, perfusable channels down to 200 µm without post‐processing.

Will we find Martian lightning via Schumann resonances?

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2023
Schumann resonances are electromagnetic resonances generally associated with lightning. If they exist on Mars, Schumann resonances are expected to resonate within the ionospheric cavity at a fundamental frequency of 7–14 Hz.

Teaching Mishaps With Mistakes: A Peer‐Led Seminar Using Student Case Studies to Enhance Retention

open access: yesTeaching Statistics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Traditional teaching often emphasizes correct methods, limiting opportunities to explore analytical errors and biases. We introduce a seminar framework that integrates peer‐to‐peer teaching with intentional exposure to statistical and machine learning mishaps through flawed, student‐designed case studies.

Secularism, Gender and Masculinity in Nineteenth‐Century Cremation in Europe and the USA

open access: yesGender &History, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This essay explores, from transnational perspectives, the early history of modern cremation, which developed in the long nineteenth century with secularist connotations. I argue that the beginnings of modern cremation were shaped by bourgeois men who claimed certain identifiers for themselves in a gendering and Othering way.

German Hypothermia Registry Improves Clinician Confidence and Harmonises Decentralised Neonatal Hypoxic‐Ischaemic Encephalopathy Care in Germany

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Decentralised implementation of therapeutic hypothermia (TH) for neonatal hypoxic‐ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE) in Germany historically caused heterogeneous clinical practices. The aim of this study was to assess the impact of the German Hypothermia Registry on clinical standardisation and confidence in neonatal HIE care since its ...

Similar Spectral Power Densities Within the Schumann Resonance and a Large Population of Quantitative Electroencephalographic Profiles: Supportive Evidence for Koenig and Pobachenko. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
In 1954 and 1960 Koenig and his colleagues described the remarkable similarities of spectral power density profiles and patterns between the earth-ionosphere resonance and human brain activity which also share magnitudes for both electric field (mV/m ...
