A long view of social mobility in Scotland and the role of economic changes

open access: yesThe British Journal of Sociology, Volume 76, Issue 2, Page 241-259, March 2025.
Abstract Changes in the social mobility of men in Scotland between the late‐19th and the late‐twentieth century are examined using new individual‐level data from nineteenth‐century censuses, linking records of men aged 0–19 in 1871 to their records in 1901, and then comparing their patterns with the social mobility of men aged 30–49 in 1974 and in 2001

Approximation properties by Schurer type q-Kantorovich–Stancu shifted knots operators

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications
We design the Schurer type Kantorovich–Stancu operators by using shifted knots in the quantum calculus. We obtain the convergence and other related approximation properties of these operators.

Rate of approximation of blending type modified univariate and bivariate λ-Schurer-Kantorovich operators

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science
In this work, we investigate some approximation properties of blending type univariate and bivariate Schurer-Kantorovich operators based on shape parameter λ ∈ [−1, 1]. We evaluate some moment estimates and obtain several direct theorems.

On the Convergence of a Family of Chlodowsky Type Bernstein-Stancu-Schurer Operators

open access: yesJournal of Function Spaces, 2018
We construct a new family of univariate Chlodowsky type Bernstein-Stancu-Schurer operators and bivariate tensor product form. We obtain the estimates of moments and central moments of these operators, obtain weighted approximation theorem, establish ...

Bivariate-Schurer-Stancu operators based on (p,q)-integers

open access: yesFilomat, 2018
The aim of this article is to introduce a bivariate extension of Schurer-Stancu operators based on (p,q)-integers. We prove uniform approximation by means of Bohman-Korovkin type theorem, rate of convergence using total modulus of smoothness and degree of approximation via second order modulus of smoothness, Peetre?s K-functional, Lipschitz

Smart Shopping Carts in Food Retailing: Innovative Technology and Shopping Experience in Stationary Retail

open access: yesJournal of Consumer Behaviour, Volume 24, Issue 1, Page 436-454, January 2025.
ABSTRACT In the development of the Internet of Things, smart shopping carts present a digital innovation that can realize cost‐cutting potential and improve the shopping experience. The impact of smart shopping carts on customers' shopping experience is analyzed in stationary grocery retailing.

A New Modification of Baskakov–Schurer–Stancu Operators: Weighted and Pointwise Approximation Theories

open access: yesMathematics
The behavior of a new modification of operators of the Baskakov–Schurer–Stancu variant is discussed in this study. First, we establish certain necessary moment and central moment estimates.

A Bernstein‐Like Trigonometric Basis: Properties, Curve Design, and Operator Construction

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
We introduce a novel family of trigonometric basis functions equipped with a shape parameter, analogous to Bernstein functions. These basis functions are employed to construct Bézier‐like curves, termed “trigo‐curves”, which retain the fundamental properties of classical Bézier curves while offering enhanced shape control through parameter adjustment ...

Approximation Properties of a New Class of Beta‐Type Szász–Mirakjan Operators

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
We use the new variant of Szász–Mirakjan operators to construct a generalized version of Szász‐beta type operators and obtain auxiliary lemmas. We present the weighted approximation theorems and, by using Peetre’s K‐function, the local approximation results of these operators are studied.

Whoever you want me to be: Personality and incentives

open access: yesEconomic Inquiry, Volume 62, Issue 3, Page 1268-1291, July 2024.
Abstract What can employers learn from personality tests when applicants have incentives to misrepresent themselves? Using a within‐subject, laboratory experiment, we compare personality measures with and without incentives for misrepresentation. Incentivized personality measures are weakly to moderately correlated with non‐incentivized measures in all
