Phase II study of axitinib in patients with NF2-related schwannomatosis and progressive vestibular schwannomas

Neuro-Oncology Advances
Background Axitinib is an oral multi-receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR), platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR), and c-KIT. These represent a clinically and/or preclinically validated

Intraosseous schwannoma in schwannomatosis

Skeletal Radiology, 2013
This study investigates the clinical, radiological, and pathological features of two cases of intraosseous schwannoma that arose in patients with multiple soft tissue schwannomas. In both cases, the patients were adult females and the tibial bone was affected.

Schwannomatosis

Archives of Dermatology, 1989
• Multiple schwannomas have frequently been seen in patients with neurofibromatosis. Recently, the association of multiple cutaneous schwannomas, central nervous system tumors, and various neurologic deficits has been described in Japanese patients as a condition called schwannomatosis.

Schwannomatosis of the sciatic nerve

Skeletal Radiology, 2001
A 52-year-old woman with schwannomatosis in the left sciatic nerve is presented. The patient had no stigmata of neurofibromatosis (NF) type 1 or 2. Cutaneous or spinal schwannomas were not detected. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of the sciatic nerve revealed more than 15 tumors along the course of the nerve.

Investigating cochlear cellular dynamics in neurofibromatosis type 2-associated schwannomatosis: a histopathological study

Frontiers in Neurology
Sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) is a hallmark symptom in patients with neurofibromatosis type 2-associated schwannomatosis (NF2-SWN), a genetic condition caused by mutations in the Neurofibromin II gene that encodes the tumor suppressor protein Moesin ...

Update on Cancer and Central Nervous System Tumor Surveillance in Pediatric NF2-, SMARCB1-, and LZTR1-Related Schwannomatosis.

Clinical Cancer Research
Schwannomatoses (SWN) are distinct cancer predisposition syndromes caused by germline pathogenic variants in the genes NF2, SMARCB1, or LZTR1. There is significant clinical overlap between these syndromes with the hallmark of increased risk for cranial ...

An unusual case of familial schwannomatosis involving the anterior mediastinum, pleura, and orbit

International Journal of Neurooncology
Schwannomatosis is a rare genetic disorder characterized by slow growth of peripheral nerve sheath tumors in locations outside the vestibular nerves and skin. Common locations include the spine, extremities, head, and neck.

CTNI-48. NERATINIB FOR NF2 -RELATED SCHWANNOMATOSIS WITH PROGRESSIVE TUMORS: INTERIM ANALYSIS FROM THE INTUITT-NF2 PLATFORM-BASKET TRIAL

Neuro-Oncology
NF2-related schwannomatosis (NF2-SWN) predisposes affected individuals to vestibular schwannomas (VS), non-vestibular schwannomas (NVS), meningiomas, and ependymomas.

Schwannomatosis on a Single Foot

Foot & Ankle Specialist, 2014
Schwannomatosis has been recently recognized as the third major type of neurofibromatosis. It causes multiple schwannomas without the vestibular tumors that are diagnostic of neurofibromatosis type 2. Schwannoma is rarely found in the foot, and it is still rarer to find multiple schawannomas in a single peripheral nerve on the foot.
