Light cones inside the Schwarzschild radius
American Journal of Physics, 1995Novikov has developed a reference system built around radially moving geodesic clocks that allows particle and light signal trajectories to be followed across the Schwarzschild radius Rs. We utilize Novikov’s reference system to demonstrate that in any light cone inside Rs, there exists a naturally occurring limiting timelike geodesic that divides the ...

Possible causal violations at radii greater than the schwarzschild radius
Physics Letters, 1966Abstract By identifying points on a Kruskal diagram a method is given for reflecting light signals from a Schwarzschild source. If such reflections are possible, then apparent violations of causality occur.

Reanalysis of the Schwarzschild Radius
SSRN Electronic JournalThe Schwarzschild solution to Einstein’s field equations reveals a potential singularity at a critical point known as the Schwarzschild radius. The singularity can be eliminated by transforming to any of several alternate coordinate systems. This fact supports the current interpretation that the Schwarzschild radius poses no obstruction to the ...

Shock waves near the Schwarzschild radius and stability limits for stars
Physical Review D, 1997We analyze the time dilation associated with the propagation of a shock wave that moves outward into a static fluid sphere in general relativity. In this way we investigate the possibility that a shock wave inside a star could supply the pressure required to hold up a highly collapsed static outer layer.

Scientific Prospects for VLTI in the Galactic Centre: Getting to the Schwarzschild Radius
2007The centre of our Galaxy is by far the closest galactic nucleus to theEarth. Not surprisingly, Sgr A*, the super-massive black hole candidate lyingat its gravitational centre, is the black hole (BH) candidate which offersthe best spatial resolution in terms of Schwarzschild radius tpRs, thanksto the good compromise between its mass (≃3.6×106 M⊙)and ...
