Sciatic Nerve Intraneural Hematoma
World Neurosurgery, 2019Intraneural hematomas are an uncommon cause of a focal mononeuropathy. When they do occur, it is usually in the setting of inherited or iatrogenic coagulopathies or as a consequence of injections targeting nerves. We report a man aged 68 years on warfarin therapy for a prior pulmonary embolism who presented with a 6-month history of progressive ...

Partial Sciatic Nerve Transection
2004Partial sciatic nerve transection (PST) of the sciatic nerve of rats and mice is described as a model of painful neuropathy. The rationale for developing this model was to establish a simple partial nerve injury without application of foreign material.

Abstract The L4–S3 Nerve roots form the sciatic nerve, which comprises both the peroneal and tibial nerves. The sciatic nerve is responsible for knee flexion and the actions of the lower extremity. As well, it provides sensory coverage to the posterior thigh, most of the lower leg, and the foot.

SCIATIC AND FEMORAL NERVE BLOCK
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1952One of the most useful yet most neglected anesthetic procedures is the combination of sciatic and femoral nerve block. The technique of a satisfactory sciatic-femoral nerve block is simple to master, and

✓ A case is presented of compression of the sciatic nerve at the back of the thigh. For 3 years after a minor injury, this patient had suffered from pain and paresthesia in the left leg. There were no neurological abnormalities; electromyography was performed twice and showed normal muscular activity.
