✓ A case of sciatic entrapment neuropathy is discussed. When evaluating patients with unilateral leg pain and paresthesias, one should consider the possibility of entrapment of peripheral nerve. Electrodiagnostic studies are helpful in establishing the diagnosis.

SCIATIC NEUROPATHY COMPLICATING VAGINAL HYSTERECTOMY
Obstetrical & Gynecological Survey, 1972Abstract While there are numerous reviews concerned with femoral neuropathy after abdominal or vaginal hysterectomy, there is a paucity of clinical material on sciatic nerve complications following vaginal hysterectomy. One thousand consecutive vaginal hysterectomies from 1963 to 1970 were reviewed in one hospital.

Neurology, 1994
We examined the clinical features of patients with sciatic neuropathy and the factors that influence prognosis. Of 92 consecutive patients referred for EMG evaluation of sciatic neuropathy, 73 fulfilled strict inclusion and exclusion criteria and had adequate clinical and electrophysiologic information. The etiologies included hip arthroplasty (21.9%),

Sciatic and tibial neuropathies
The sciatic nerve is the body's largest peripheral nerve. Along with their two terminal divisions (tibial and fibular), their anatomic location makes them particularly vulnerable to trauma and iatrogenic injuries. A thorough understanding of the functional anatomy is required to adequately localize lesions in this lengthy neural pathway.Thomas A, Miller, Douglas C, Ross

Sciatic Neuropathy Induced by the Lithotomy Position
Archives of Neurology, 1983To the Editor. —A recent medicolegal situation brought to our attention an unexpected, unexplained, and rare sciatic nerve injury associated with general anesthesia with the patient in the lithotomy position. One study 1 indicated a 0.4% occurrence rate.

Clinical and Electrodiagnostic Features of Sciatic Neuropathies
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinics of North America, 2013Sciatic neuropathy is the second most common neuropathy of the lower extremity and a common cause of foot drop. This article reviews the anatomy, clinical features, pathophysiology, and electrodiagnostic assessment of sciatic neuropathies. There are multiple potential sites of pathology, determined in part by the mechanism of insult, including trauma ...

Painful sciatic neuropathy following cardiac surgery
Australian and New Zealand Journal of Medicine, 1991Abstract Ten patients developed bilateral asymmetrical lower limb sensori‐motor or motor deficits associated with prominent causalgic pain after cardiac surgery. The clinical and electrophysiological abnormalities indicated bilateral proximal sciatic nerve lesions, although in several cases the distinction from a diffuse ischaemic axonopathy was ...

Clinical and Electrodiagnostic Features Of Nontraumatic Sciatic Neuropathy
Muscle & Nerve, 2018ABSTRACTIntroduction: In this study we sought to characterize etiologies and features of sciatic neuropathy unrelated to penetrating nerve trauma. Methods: This investigation was a retrospective review of 109 patients with electrodiagnostically confirmed sciatic neuropathies. Results: Hip replacement surgery represented the most common (34.9%) etiology,
