Nano‐Anesthetics Regulate Neuro‐Immune Interaction for Treating Neuropathic Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ce‐UiO‐66‐Bupivacaine (CUB) demonstrates triple therapeutic innovation: 1) Sustained analgesia with ROS scavenging synergistically resolves neuropathic pain; 2) Microglia/astrocyte polarization switch reprograms the pro‐regenerative immune microenvironment; 3) CGRP‐TSP‐1 axis activation couples inflammation suppression to axon regeneration, defining a ...

Case Report: Sciatic nerve schwannoma - a rare cause of sciatica [version 1; referees: 2 approved]

open access: yesF1000Research, 2017
Herein we report a rare case of a sciatic nerve schwannoma causing sciatica in a 69-year-old female. Sciatic nerve schwannoma is a rare entity. It should always be considered as a possible cause of sciatica in patients that present with symptoms of ...

A diagnostic study in patients with sciatica establishing the importance of localization of worsening of pain during coughing, sneezing and straining to assess nerve root compression on MRI [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Purpose: To test whether the localization of worsening of pain during coughing, sneezing and straining matters in the assessment of lumbosacral nerve root compression or disc herniation on MRI.

3D‐Printing of Electroconductive MXene‐Based Micro‐Meshes in a Biomimetic Hyaluronic Acid‐Based Scaffold Directs and Enhances Electrical Stimulation for Neural Repair Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study combined microscale 3D‐printing with 2D Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets to produce electroconductive microfibrous micro‐meshes. By embedding these MXene‐functionalized micro‐meshes within a growth‐supportive macroporous extracellular matrix (ECM)‐based biomaterial, multifunctional biomimetic MXene‐ECM scaffolds were developed.

Chirality Regulates Stem Cell Fate and Promotes Corneal Epithelial Regeneration via Manipulating Notch Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chirality governs the limbal epithelial stem cell fate. Right‐handed chirality enhances cell proliferation and differentiation, while left‐handed chirality partially maintains cell stemness. By activating the Notch pathway, 3D right‐handed chiral hydrogel offers a drug‐free and cell‐free strategy for effective corneal regeneration.

Bioactive Silk Sericin/Bioceramic Nerve Guidance Conduit for Effective Repair of Long‐Gap Transected Peripheral Nerve Injury through Regulating Schwann Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies akermanite among six bioceramics and reveals its ability to enhance Schwann cell's proliferation, migration, and secretion. When combined with silk sericin, the composite conduit synergistically enhances Schwann cell‐mediated regenerative processes.

Prognostic factors in non-surgically treated sciatica: A systematic review

open access: yesBMC Musculoskeletal Disorders, 2011
Background When present sciatica is considered an obstacle to recovery in low back pain patients, yet evidence is limited regarding prognostic factors for persistent disability in this patient group. The aim of this study is to describe and summarise the
