Loss of Glutaminase 1 in Small Sensory Neurons Prevents Nerve Injury Induced Mechanical Allodynia: Insights From Conditional Knockout Mice

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 29, Issue 6, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Glutamate, the primary neurotransmitter released by nociceptors, is predominantly synthesised by the enzyme Glutaminase 1 (GLS1). The involvement of GLS1 in pain pathways is well supported, as Gls1 heterozygous mice exhibit altered nociception and GLS1 levels increase in the dorsal root ganglia (DRG) under chronic peripheral ...

Brillouin Spectroscopy: A Non‐Invasive Method for Assessing the Viscoelastic Properties of Biologically Relevant Polymers

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A, Volume 113, Issue 7, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Research of biocompatible polymers is critical for advancing biomedical technologies, particularly in the fields of tissue engineering, drug delivery, and cardiovascular health. This study investigates the mechanical properties of a series of novel biocompatible polymers using Brillouin microspectroscopy.

Carvacrol Coadministration Ameliorates Lambda‐Cyhalothrin‐Induced Peripheral Neuropathy in Rats: Behavioral and Molecular Evidence

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 39, Issue 7, July 2025.
This study investigates the peripheral neuropathy induced by the pesticide Lambda‐cyhalothrin (CYH) and how carvacrol (CRV) treatment reduces these effects. CYH causes neurological disorders, oxidative stress, and inflammation, while CRV reverses these harmful effects with its antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and antiapoptotic properties.

No difference in patient‐reported outcomes between operative and non‐operative management of proximal hamstring injuries, but return to sports is higher in operative treatment: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics, Volume 12, Issue 3, July 2025.
Abstract Purpose This study aimed to compare the patient‐reported outcome score, return‐to‐sports rate, knee flexion strength and complications of operative and non‐operative treatments for proximal hamstring tendon avulsions. Methods A comprehensive search of PubMed, Ovid and Scopus was conducted to identify clinical comparative studies with Levels 1 ...
