Dynamic Fluorescence Modulation via Light‐Driven Competitive Protonation

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐component molecular system demonstrates reversible, light‐driven fluorescence write–erase cycling and thermal imaging. Illumination of a merocyanine photoacid transfers a proton to a highly efficient fluorescent pyridinium dye, switching its emission color; thermal relaxation reverses the process in the dark.

Coherent Absorption Reveals Colors Hidden in a Grey Fabry–Pérot Cavity

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A dielectric thin film shows colors depending on its thickness; this effect can be used to encode information normally accessible through single‐beam spectroscopy. We developed a method to conceal this kind of information, based on coating the dielectric with a matched conductor, that suppresses the color‐bearing thin‐film resonances.

Twisting Lamellae Triggering Circular Polarized Luminescence of Chromophoric Moieties in Banded Spherulites With Evolution of Homochirality

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Crystallization‐mediated hierarchical chirality is shown to transform molecular stereochemistry into macroscopic circularly polarized luminescence. Twisted PLA crystalline lamellae generate asymmetric surface stress and chiral steric environments that direct achiral chromophore organization, producing opposite CPL responses in PLLA and PDLA matrices ...

Multiple Scattering Model for the Coherent Optical Response of Correlated Disordered Plasmonic Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered plasmonic metasurfaces enable advanced control over light scattering through disorder engineering. A theoretical model based on multiple scattering theory is developed to predict the coherent reflection and transmission of light from disordered metasurfaces with arbitrary pair correlations.

Inverse Optical Contrast in Metastable GeTe2: An Anomaly Enabling Low‐Loss Phase Change Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
An anomalous optical phase inversion in GeTe2$\mathrm{GeTe_{2}}$ provides a new platform for low‐loss non‐volatile integrated photonics at 1550 nm. The transition from the amorphous state (1) to a metastable vdW−GeTe2$\mathrm{vdW-GeTe_{2}}$ crystalline phase (2) is driven by bandgap widening, resulting in a negative refractive index change (Δn$\Delta ...

Breaking Optical Transparency and Electromagnetic Performance Trade‐Offs for Transparent Reflective Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A theory‐guided magnetoelectric metasurface design breaks the conventional optical transparency and electromagnetic performance trade‐offs. By preserving the electric and magnetic current paths required for efficient reflection through fine‐metal‐line structure, the developed transparent reflective metasurface achieves high optical transparency without
