Social context prevents heat hormetic effects against mutagens during fish development
This study shows that sublethal heat stress protects fish embryos against ultraviolet radiation, a concept known as ‘hormesis’. However, chemical stress transmission between fish embryos negates this protective effect. By providing evidence for the mechanistic molecular basis of heat stress hormesis and interindividual stress communication, this study ...

Knowledge discovery via multidimensional science maps: the case of the Species Problem [PDF]
Science mapping (SM), the study of the organization and development of science and technology, is a rapidly developing field within information science. The volume of available data allows this methodology to empirically address such issues as the historical development of topics, discourses, fields or the entire science system.

miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

Mapping Interdisciplinarity at the Interfaces between the Science Citation Index and the Social Science Citation Index [PDF]
The two Journal Citation Reports of the Science Citation Index 2004 and the Social Science Citation Index 2004 were combined in order to analyze and map journals and specialties at the edges and in the overlap between the two databases. For journals which belong to the overlap (e.g., Scientometrics), the merger mainly enriches our insight into the ...

Spot‐14 and Spot‐14R play distinct roles in regulating metabolism in brown and beige adipocytes. While both influence lipid and glucose pathways, Spot‐14 uniquely controls thermogenic gene expression. This dual regulation balances energy storage and heat production, highlighting potential therapeutic targets for obesity and metabolic disorders. Spot 14

Machine learning model to cluster and map tribocorrosion regimes in feature space [PDF]
Tribocorrosion maps serve the purpose of identifying operating conditions for acceptable rate of degradation. This paper proposes a machine learning based approach to generate tribocorrosion maps, which can be used to predict tribosystem performance.

Interaction extracellular vesicles (iEVs) are hybrid vesicles formed through host‐pathogen communication. They facilitate immune evasion, transfer pathogens' molecules, increase host cell uptake, and enhance virulence. This Perspective article illustrates the multifunctional roles of iEVs and highlights their emerging relevance in infection dynamics ...
