Validation of Sinus Drug Delivery Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Modeling with In Vitro Gamma Scintigraphy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a prevalent and disruptive disease. Medical management including nasal steroid sprays is the primary treatment modality. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has been used to characterize sinonasal airflow and intranasal drug delivery; however, variation in simulation methods indicates a need for large scale ...

Utility and limitations of 3,3-diphosphono-1,2-propanodicarboxylic acid scintigraphy in systemic amyloidosis.

open access: yesEuropean Heart Journal-Cardiovascular Imaging, 2014
AIMS Technetium-99m-labelled 3,3-diphosphono-1,2-propanodicarboxylic acid ((99m)Tc-DPD) is a sensitive method for imaging cardiac transthyretin (ATTR) amyloid.

CAD Applications and Emerging Research Potential in Medical Imaging [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Computer Aided Detection (CAD) is a valuable technique for precisely interpreting medical images and it has a global business opportunity of about USD 1.8 billion. The current aspects with reference to the four sub stages such as image pre-processing, segmentation, feature extraction and classification and the future scope of CAD in medical imaging has

Consensus Recommendations for Gastric Emptying Scintigraphy: A Joint Report of the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society and the Society of Nuclear Medicine

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Gastroenterology, 2008
This consensus statement from the members of the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society and the Society of Nuclear Medicine recommends a standardized method for measuring gastric emptying (GE) by scintigraphy.

Bone scintigraphy with 99mtechnetium-hydroxymethylene diphosphonate allows early diagnosis of cardiac involvement in patients with transthyretin-derived systemic amyloidosis

open access: yesAmyloid: Journal of Protein Folding Disorders, 2014
Objective: To assess the usefulness of bone scintigraphy with 99mTechnetium-hydroxymethylene diphosphonate (99mTc-HDP) for the detection of cardiac involvement in a group of patients with ATTR amyloidosis in different phases of disease, to relate the ...

The effect of trimetazidine on cardiac haemodynamics and mitochondrial function in wild‐type transthyretin amyloidosis

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Wild‐type transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (ATTRwt) is a cardiomyopathy causing myocardial hypoperfusion and impaired cardiac mitochondrial function. Trimetazidine is an antianginal agent used in patients with stable angina pectoris, which improves cardiac contractility and mitochondrial function.

Rotating-slit scintigraphy using scintillating glass fibers: First results [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
In this paper we propose to perform the scintigraphy of small organ using a rotating-slit collimator and a bundle of scintillating glass fibers, put in parallel with the slit and rotating with it. An intensified CCD, coupled to the end of the fibers, acquires an integrated image of the events per each rotation angle.

Quantification of gastric emptying with magnetic resonance imaging in healthy volunteers: A systematic review

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, Volume 34, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
As observed in this systematic review, MRI is a flexible tool for assessing GE. Different protocols were analyzed, showing an equal capacity to assess the GE. However, many items in these protocols still require further investigation to obtain a common standard and increase this assessment quality. Abstract Background Several magnetic resonance imaging

A dosing algorithm for individualized radioiodine treatment of cats with hyperthyroidism

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, 2021
Background Radioiodine (131I) is the treatment of choice for hyperthyroidism in cats, but current 131I‐dosing protocols can induce iatrogenic hypothyroidism and expose azotemia.
