Characterization of Scintillation Events With Basis on L1 Transmissions From Geostationary SBAS Satellites

open access: yesSpace Weather
Signals recorded by two stations in the Brazilian region: [Fortaleza (3.74°S, 38.57°W) and Inconfidentes (22.31°S, 46.32°W)], receiving L1 transmissions from different geostationary satellites, were used to evaluate the amplitude scintillation index S4 ...

Cherenkov and Scintillation Light Separation in Organic Liquid Scintillators

open access: yes, 2017
The CHErenkov / Scintillation Separation experiment (CHESS) has been used to demonstrate the separation of Cherenkov and scintillation light in both linear alkylbenzene (LAB) and LAB with 2g/L of PPO as a fluor (LAB/PPO).

Synchrotron Radiation‐Based Tomography of an Entire Mouse Brain with Sub‐Micron Voxels: Augmenting Interactive Brain Atlases with Terabyte Data

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Extended‐field acquisition enables sub‐micron X‐ray imaging of a full mouse brain. The 3.3‐teravoxel volume is reconstructed, registered to a reference atlas, and stored in hierarchical format to augment currently available atlases and improve resolution in the third dimension by an order of magnitude.

Facile Synthesis of Nanolayered Manganese Oxide for the Efficient and Selective Removal of Strontium(II) from Nuclear Wastewater

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel nanolayered manganese oxide material (Na‐NLMO) is prepared using a rapid and straightforward method for efficient adsorption of Sr(II) in both simulated waste liquid and natural water systems. Its excellent adsorption performance of Na‐NLMO could be attributed to the accessible layered structure and negatively charged framework.

Instant Writing of Conductive Interface on MOF Single Crystal by Ultrafast Laser

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current device fabrication strategies lack capacity for tailoring ideal electrical interface in individual MOF single crystals. An ultrafast laser approach is developed that in situ constructs stable conductive interface on MOF single crystal scale while maintaining its crystalline integrity.

Bioinspired Liquid‐Free Ion‐Conductive Elastomers with Ultrahigh Mechanical Strength and Excellent Ionic Conductivity for Multifunctional Flexible Sensing Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
⁻Inspired by the “brick wall” structure of pearl layer, FLICE‐110% liquid‐free ionic conductive elastomer had high mechanical strength (5.46 MPa), excellent ionic conductivity (3.29 × 10−4 S cm−1) and resilience. It can be used in smart music boxes, airplane wings and control manipulators.

A Review of Ionospheric Scintillation Models

open access: yesSurveys in geophysics, 2015
This is a general review of the existing climatological models of ionospheric radio scintillation for high and equatorial latitudes. Trans-ionospheric communication of radio waves from transmitter to user is affected by the ionosphere which is highly ...

Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Framework‐Based Self‐Monitoring Oxygen Economizer and ROS Amplifier for Enhanced Radiotherapy‐Radiodynamic Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A Fe (III)–Pt (II) porphyrin framework‐based radiosensitizer (FPTM‐LP) is constructed to serve as an oxygen economizer, hypoxia self‐monitoring device, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) amplifier. The glutathione (GSH)/pH‐responsive release of lonidamine achieves oxygen‐economization to combat hypoxia‐induced radioresistance guided by near infrared ...
